Week 1 of Agventures was a success! Students ranging in grades 5-8 spent the week on campus in a variety of vocational programs. Attendees rode horses, built patios, made stethoscopes, climbed trees, made terrariums, completed egg dissections, and much more! We look forward to having another group of campers for week 2!β˜€οΈ

🌱🚜 Bristol Aggie Welcomes Educators from Across the Nation 🚜🌱

This past Tuesday, Bristol County Agricultural High School was honored to serve as a tour location for attendees of the @ National Agriculture in the Classroom, hosted this year in Providence. We were pleased to welcome educators from across the United States to our campus to learn more about agricultural education and the innovative programs taking place at Bristol Aggie.

Visitors had the opportunity to explore our campus, learn about our specialized educational programs, and see firsthand how hands-on learning connects students to agriculture, food production, and career pathways.

During the visit, we were proud to showcase Bristol Aggie’s Farm to School initiatives and campus café program. Guests learned how students in our Floriculture program grow and harvest produce used on campus, how our livestock programs provide authentic learning experiences in animal husbandry and agricultural production, and how students participate in the full farm-to-table process. We highlighted the ways agricultural products grown and raised on our campus are incorporated into educational experiences, including meat processing and the preparation of locally sourced meals served through our café program.

Educators also learned about the partnerships, curriculum, and experiential learning opportunities that make Bristol Aggie a leader in agricultural education. These initiatives provide students with meaningful opportunities to understand food production, develop technical skills, and explore the many careers that support agriculture and local food systems.

We extend our sincere thanks to the conference organizers and participants for visiting Bristol Aggie. It was a privilege to share our students, programs, and campus with educators from across the country and to demonstrate how agricultural education can inspire the next generation of leaders in agriculture, environmental stewardship, and food production.

Juniors in Floriculture recently created a display for the 30th anniversary Newport Flower show, based on the inspiration from the Newport Preservation Society. This year, they asked us to create an arch piece based on the theme 'Pearls of Newport'. The students decided to take inspiration from the waves, titling the piece 'Gathered by the Tides'. It features flowing fabric to mimic the movement of the coast, garlands of pearls, and lots of nautical items. Students handmade seashell and driftwood flowers and handcrafted a 4 ft whale tail! The sides of the piece are highlighted by typical coastal plants such as hydrangeas, beach grass, and succulents. We are very honored to create such large entrance pieces every year and are already looking forward to the next! 🫍🌊πŸͺ»

Today we delivered 90 frozen "heat and serve" meals to the Greater Fall River Food Pantry. Meals were all protein based, "center of the plate items": Chicken Stir Fry, Meat Sauce, Pulled Pork, Chourico & Peppers, Turkey Chili, to name a few.

We also have some bulk food items, (aprox 200 pounds), left over from the student lunch program that will be picked up by Kindness Kitchen, which is a 5013-C non profit "Food Trailer" that goes to Tent Cities & Encampments to feed the homeless...

"It is heartwarming and satisfying to be in a position to help those who are in need. To jump in a van and deliver this relief accompanied by Bristol Aggie Students is a experience that I will never forget..."

ECD Underway on the Taunton River! 🚀

This week, Bristol Aggie's Environmental Conservation Department (ECD) juniors, including students from both Environmental Engineering and Natural Resource Management, celebrated the completion of their Massachusetts Boater Safety Certification with a practical Underway Day with the Massachusetts Environmental Police on the Taunton River.

Students had the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice while gaining real-world boating experience alongside Environmental Police officers and instructors.

Through this experience, students strengthened their understanding of:

βš“ Boating safety
πŸ›Ÿ Emergency preparedness
🚀 Vessel operation
🌊 Waterway navigation
🀝 Professional skills and teamwork

Experiences like these help students connect traditional classroom learning to real-world applications while preparing them for future careers in environmental science, engineering, natural resources, public safety, and conservation.

A special thank you to the Massachusetts Environmental Police for their continued partnership and dedication to our students. Their commitment to annually teaching the Massachusetts Boater Safety Course and assistance facilitating this unique on-the-water experience ensures that our students become safe, responsible boaters and skilled future professionals.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside professionals who share their expertise and help prepare the next generation of environmental leaders.
