Come learn with us: team name cue scrim supporting SARI, Sunday Nov 15th 4-6pm
Find more details & this resource in our bio
———————————————————————————
BRD are delighted by WFTDA’s decision to work towards team name cues as standard procedure. After using team name cues for scrims, training, and in several games since the test began last February, many of our skaters & officials say they find team names more intuitive than colour.
While we recognise this change alone will not solve the issues of diversity & inclusion in roller derby we’re excited for what the future holds. taken in Bristol, United Kingdom by @bristolrollerderby

Never used team name cues before but want to try it out? Come join us Nov 15th for an OTA scrim and do just that!

All proceeds from the day will be going to @saricharity, who do incredible work supporting those facing discrimination in Bristol.

If that’s not reason enough all sign-ups also come with limited edition merch celebrating our beloved ‘Spike’ & ‘Turbo’.

Skater or official, sign up now via link in bio

Sharing voices to be better teammates & allies.
.
We asked skaters to share their experiences in the hopes of starting a conversation, and to highlight difficulities facing BIPOC skaters you may not have considered.
Do you subconciously believe that myth and allow it to influence your drive for diversity? Have you ever considered how societal survival tactics could influence someone? What does your allyship look like once an incident is 'resolved'?
Sit with these stories, share with your team, and reflect.

As we snack on the samosas of success for the summer, let's check out what our team captains had to say about our busiest @fivenationsrd season ever! (Captioned below)

All-Stars, Tier 3 South OTA: “Entering a third team into Five Nations this season was a big decision! Everyone has worked so hard and the entire league has supported us - it's been phenomenal to see us all come together. Bringing home the Tier 3 South gold after an unbeatable winning streak and getting our ticket punched to Playoffs in November is simply the icing on a very delicious cake. The All-Stars are back!”

A, Tier 1 WFTDA: "Tier 1 was a nail biter with placings not decided until the final game on the final day. Our favourite moment was seeing the team come together against Birmingham, and win despite the odds being stacked against us! We lost one jammer to injury in the first 15 minutes, two of the team had food poisoning, there was a mid game tech delay of over an hour and the team still managed to pull together and win. It was such a good vibes game."

Bees, Tier 3 South WFTDA: ”Entering Tier 3 as the firm underdogs we knew that it would be a challenging season, still the Bees found a lot of brightness and joy. We focused on personal goals, consolidated our pack work, celebrated every single point, and appreciated the community more than ever. The camaraderie between teammates, the unwavering support of our bench crew (and their game-day outfits!!), and every sweaty hug or fist-bump shared with opponents, officials and volunteers.

We’re very proud of the roller derby we played, and the way we faced the challenges presented to us, and can’t wait for more.“

What an end to the season, with the game that did not want to end!

Tier 1 5N this year really did deliver on all fronts! Our WFTDA A team sealed the silver 🥈 on Sunday with a win against @birminghamrollerderbyuk .

Big congratulations to neighbours @wiltshirerollerderby for their gold and thanks to our other tier pals @weareleedsrd . What a treat this year has been!

Thanks to everyone that has played, supported, officiated, photographed, physioed and all the other behind the scenes excellence that keeps this wonderful sport going.

Now we go into a nice well earned rest for the summer.
