The highlight reel at the end of the year always shows us our biggest and most memorable moments. Even our memories fail us to an extent as we retrace our steps over the last 365 days mostly remembering those big events and experiences. We gloss over the days where waking up feels painful, the times you bicker with your partner, the “I really hate my job today” moments, or when you burry your head into the belly of your pet and bask in how good (or badly) they smell. We forget about middle of the night forehead kisses when you get up to use the loo, or phone tag that you play with your best friend who can never call at the right time. The hangry moments, a funny story from your coworker, smelling candles in a store, and even doom scrolling sessions get lost in the noise of it all.
But most of our time spent happens in the smallest forgettable moments and interactions, and life is found in the culmination of it all.
So here are some moments from my highlight reel and a reminder to cherish all of the small, mundane, good or bad moments that you may not remember at the end of a year gone by but got the privilege to experience, and cheers to many more moments in 2026. 🥂 by @britt_brady
