Please take a moment to read💔

Some might say he was just a dog, but to us, he was so much more. Just a little while ago, Gus was goofy, playful, and the life of our home. then everything changed so quickly.
After many visits to our primary vet and the emergency vet, no one knew what was happening to him. We were referred to Mizzou Veterinary Hospital. after hours of testing, Gus was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of T-cell lymphoma just two weeks after turning two years old.

Without knowing the full extent of his condition, we were prepared to drive him five hours every week to the best chemotherapy facility to give him the best chance at life. But very shortly after his diagnosis, he began bleeding internally into his stomach. That’s when Hunter and I had to make the hardest decision and that was to end his suffering.

Gus, in just two short years, you made an unforgettable impact on our lives. We will remember you far longer than the time we were given to love you. There is a hole in our little family that no other dog but you could fill. Your breed was born to protect cattle and livestock, and even though you were not a livestock guardian dog on earth, you are our guardian angel now. I believe God called you home early to watch over your people and everyone you loved.❤️‍🩹

A heartfelt thank you to Mizzou Animal Hospital for providing Gus with the best care possible. And a special thank you to Sugar Creek Animal Hospital for making Gus’s journey a little bit easier. The staff there created a beautiful burial box for him, signed by the entire team with such sweet words. Gus was something special, and loved by so many.👼🏻🤍 by @brittenchisom
