First day of school feels fitting for this. A somber goodbye to the best summer ever. The summer I didn’t pre-plan and schedule to the brim, yet the summer filled with the most adventure and purpose and family and friendship.

Here is what happened when I took summer break by the balls:

The stars shone a bit brighter.

We time travelled to a simpler time.

Girls ruled the world.

The sun came out each morning just to greet us.

The streets stayed quiet, holding the city down.

Connections were made beyond language.

For a moment, everyone danced.

Old relics of the past left their footprints.

Even the wind came to join the party.

Joy was found and shared. Cats were loved.

3 generations of women gathered to heal.

Some large mammals spent the sunset sharing their drifting plastic boat.

Castles sought refuge behind the trees.

Sisters reunited.

The earth cried out for whoever was listening, and for a moment I sat.

Lovers shared a meal.

We discovered beauty even on the stormiest nights.

And then, we gathered. And we sang. Basking in the energy we share. 🤍 by @brittfernandez

POV: you accidentally discover one of Alberta’s best-kept secrets. 🌲✨

Tucked away on 80 acres of forest just over an hour southwest of Edmonton, Secret Sanctuary is a place to slow down, wander without a schedule, sit around the fire, eat breakfast in bed and remember what it feels like to simply… be.

September might just be one of our favourite times here. 🍂

The days are still beautiful, the evenings are getting cozier, the forest is changing, and there’s something extra magical about wrapping yourself in a blanket beside the fire as the sun goes down.
