have recently realized, accepted, & embraced that i am a horror head! in film and lately, in literature...especially if having to do with liminal spaces. what can i say, i love the spook! I haven't read House of Leaves YET (iykyk) but just picked it up from the library. also trying to branch out into classics...currently reading Frankenstein. what else belongs on my tbr? by @briwiitched

down for the count! i took a real bad fall trying to top out a boulder in hueco. worst pain of my entire life!!! mri isn't for another several days, so no diagnosis set in stone, but i am preparing for significant ligament damage and surgery based on my recent physical exam that was also, the worst pain ever!

it's been a rough week to say the least. adjusting to my injury and navigating americas horrendous healthcare system has not been easy. i'm so grateful for my support system and loved ones who have showered me with uplifting words, care packages, gifts, and so, so much love for me❤️❤️‍🩹 it's been keeping my spirits high through it all.

2026 will be my year of recovery. new year, new knee (i know, i'm so sorry). by @briwiitched

My setting era is coming to an end! It’s a bittersweet feeling, but it’s time to move on.

For the last five years, routesetting has been my creative, climbing, and community outlet. It’s shown me that I’m physically and mentally capable of so much more than I ever believed. It’s given me incredible opportunities to travel, get out of my comfort zone, and connect with people who share the all of the same frustrations and joys that come with this job. The community I’ve built through setting stretches far and wide, and it’s so special to me that it’s part of the reason I’ve had such a hard time letting go. I’ve held onto this quiet fear: if I’m no longer a routesetter, am I still part of the routesetting community?

Undoubtedly, this job hasn’t come without its challenges. There are days when my creativity feels forced, my body aches, and all I want is to create something meaningful—and sometimes, it still doesn’t land. I won't miss the harsh criticism from the community, the physical toll, my gnawing imposter syndrome, and the bravado that still very much exists in the industry.

But I will miss my team, the ridiculous banter, the creative flow, and the sense of purpose that comes with building something for others to enjoy. It’s not to say I’ll never pick up a drill again—but for now, it’s time for something new.

If you know me, you know I’m absolutely over the moon about cats 🐈🐈‍⬛, and I’m so excited to share that I’m officially an Animal Care Tech at Foothills Animal Rescue, where I’ve been volunteering for the past year and a half! My lifelong motto has always been to follow my curiosity, and right now, that curiosity is leading me toward learning more about cats, how to care for them, and helping them find their forever homes. I’ve got a few more days left of setting—and then it’s on to the kitties! by @briwiitched

ever since i asked you all to recommend me your favorite book, i have finally fallen in love with reading. i've always wanted to be, but oftentimes i didn't know where to start, and i wouldn't finish even if i did.

i've wandered through pages about revolutions, time, conmen, death merchants, horses in mexico, migration, seas of stories, rich people getting away with too much, and how it's our god given right to be creative.

my favorite part is reflecting about the book with whomever told me about it. it's like my own personal book club.

i still have a handful of recs to get through, but then i'll be asking for more. by @briwiitched
