Presenting Pathways to Publishing, a 4-Part Series with @marthagieswrites! Broadway Books enjoys a long history of supporting local writers, and this series is offered—as with all of our events—without charge. Each session will be led by a different author and focus on an aspect of publishing.

Have you ever wondered how long it took, after finishing the book, to get a contract? Who vets those contracts? How long before the book was in readers’ hands? What about marketing?

If you find yourself asking those questions (& more), we’ll see you there ✨📝

We’re so excited to partner with @qdocfilmfest to offer a limited amount of free tickets to the world premiere of HERE I AM.

The screening is Saturday October 24th at 1:30pm at @cinema21_portland and will be followed by a conversation with director Marc J. Francis.

🎫 If you loved Elizabeth Gilbert’s “All the Way to the River,” and are excited for this documentary, DM us to claim your ticket! As a reminder, we have a very limited amount so tickets are first come first serve.

About HERE I AM

Rayya Elias lived big. A musician, writer, hairstylist and fixture of New York’s downtown scene, she survived addiction, homelessness and incarceration before rebuilding her life on her own terms. Then, at 56, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. By her side was her best friend turned partner, Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert, who put everything else aside to care
for the woman she loved. With remarkable intimacy, award-winning filmmaker Marc J. Francis follows Rayya through her final year as making music becomes more essential than ever, and she finds her way back to family, Detroit and the Arabic roots she once pushed away. Raw and deeply moving, HERE I AM is a love story, a homecoming and a portrait of an unforgettable woman determined to live fully to the end. taken in Portland Oregon by @broadwaybooks
