I remember when I first saw this picture, I thought, “Why is he standing behind me when everyone else is standing in front of me?” This was one of the best days of my life, taken just moments after proposing to my wife. But for my grandfather, this day was probably one of the hardest. It had only been a few weeks since his wife, my grandmother, went home to be with the Lord. After looking at this picture a few more times, though, it became one of my favorite photos of us. Because the more I looked at it, the more I realized it was the perfect representation of who my grandfather was in my life. He was always behind me. Never seeking the attention or the praise, but always so proud of me. No matter how far I traveled, how much I grew, or even how far I strayed from the right path, there he was. In my corner. My biggest fan, my best friend, and my protector. Someone once told me that a great leader of a family doesn’t always walk in front. Sometimes, they walk behind, watching every step you take, making sure you’re okay, and looking out for what might be coming your way. Roy, now I understand why you were standing behind me. Thank you for walking behind me all these years. Thank you for always having my back, for loving me through every season of my life, and for being someone I could always count on. Thank you for the lessons, the love, the protection, and the quiet ways you showed me just how proud you were. I pray I made you proud, and I pray that I continue to become the man you always knew I could be. I hope I can carry the same kind of love, strength, and leadership that you showed me into my own family. I don’t know how to imagine this world without you in it, but I know that the love you gave me will continue to guide me for the rest of my life. You spent your life having my back. I promise to carry you with me as I move forward. Rest in paradise, Roy. Give Grandmama a hug for me. I love you. ❤️ by @broadwaybound5

✨ What a WEEKEND at Chassé Dance Company! ✨ I had the absolute BEST time teaching my full studio intensive! Getting to work with these incredible dancers was such a joy. We danced, laughed, learned, and created some amazing memories together. ❤️ I had the opportunity to teach Hip-Hop, Modern, and Contemporary, and I truly loved every minute of it! The kids were so welcoming, talented, and full of energy. I hope they had just as much fun as I did! 🕺🏽🔥 Thank you to the entire Chassé Dance Company family for welcoming me with open arms and making this weekend so special. I’m already looking forward to the next time I get to walk through those studio doors! Until next time, Chassé! ❤️✨ #DanceIntensive #ChasseDanceCompany #DanceTeacher by @broadwaybound5

💍Today is NOT our Wedding Anniversary💍 But on August 24, 2024 I asked you to be my forever. Forever your protector. Forever your best friend. Forever the love of your life. That moment feels like yesterday, but somehow, it also feels like the beginning of a lifetime that I had been waiting for without even knowing it. I didn’t just ask you to marry me that day. I asked you to build a life with me. To laugh with me, grow with me, dream with me, and most importantly pray with me. And you said YES! Two years later, I still look at you and thank God that I get to call you my wife. I would choose you in every time, in every version of our story, over and over again. August 24 will always be the day I asked you to be my forever💍 Happy Proposal Anniversary, my love. Here’s to the rest of our forever. 🥂♾️ 📸: @ynot_images by @broadwaybound5
