Lyricist and librettist Alan Jay Lerner was born on this day in 1918!🎼 Alongside writing partner Frederick Loewe, he worked to create some of the most iconic musicals of the 1950s and 60s, including BRIGADOON, CAMELOT, PAINT YOUR WAGON, and MY FAIR LADY. He was nominated for five Tony Awards, winning twice: Best Musical for MY FAIR LADY, and Best Original Score for GIGI. The grand piano shown here, on which he and Loewe wrote MY FAIR LADY, was passed down through the family of Broadway music director Hal Hastings before finding its home at The Museum of Broadway, on loan from The Broadway Legacy Foundation. #museumofbroadway #lernerandloewe #nycmuseums #broadway #timessquare by @broadwaylegacyfoundation
