I fixed a 1970s fishing boat with ChatGPT and next to no internet.

No manuals exist for a commercial boat built in Burnaby, BC in the seventies — the manufacturer's been gone for decades. ChatGPT ID'd the hydraulic motor from a photo of the nameplate and pointed us to a part in Homer, Alaska. All while I had barely a signal bar out on the water.

ChatGPT solved a boat problem faster than 40 years of fishing experience could.

Stuck at "Camp Dignity" with dead hydraulics and a bunch of old-timers guessing at the fix, Jason ran the same questions through ChatGPT. It came back with a step-by-step plan and said it was "99% sure" — before anyone with decades on the water could agree on an answer. Not a replacement for the old guys. Just faster.
