"To live is Christ, to die is gain" - Phillipians 1:21

Simeon the Holy fool was a Christian monk who abandoned his ego and lived as the town laughingstock while performing miracles and healing the sick in secret

Saint Cyprian of Carthage was born of a noble pagan family, but upon learning the truth, abandoned his wealth and dedicated his life to helping the needy

Saint Nicetas of Novgorod was a monk who believed he was superior in spirit to the others. He insisted upon living in isolation when he was not ready and the devil tricked him into believing he was more theologically knowledgeable and had no need for reading the gospel. Once the other monks found out, he was saved and abandoned his pride and ambition to live a humble life as a monk.

Saint Pelagia of Antioch was one of the most notorious harlots of her time, seducing as many men as possible simply for the pleasure of doing so. Upon hearing a passing homily, she demanded to be baptized that same day, abandoning her life of sin and turning to Christ.
