Congratulations to our lab team who attended the IMPACT Conference at Stony Brook University on Long Island, where they won FIRST PLACE for their poster presentation on “Reducing Cognitive Load for Nursing Students Using a Code-Style Simulation Cart”. Congratulations to our School of Nursing Dean, Dr. Kathy Peterson, on being named to Rochester Business Journal’s 2026 Healthcare Power List!

The annual list recognizes influential leaders who are improving community health, advancing innovation, and helping their organizations address the Rochester region’s evolving healthcare needs. Dr. Peterson (and Dr. Hernandez also from Brockport) were recognized alongside other leading healthcare professionals from across the region for their contributions to healthcare and health professions education.

Our students not only get hands on practice with our high fidelity mannequins in our ExCEL Center, they also get to practice subjective data collection and therapeutic communication with real humans through our standardized patients, as well as with each other. 💚💛 Two students in the lab looking at each other and talking and smiling. by @brockportnursing

The results are in! Our third quarter first time NCLEX pass rates were 92.9%, which brings our overall pass rate to 95.2% for our December, May and August grads! This is WELL higher than both the New York State and National averages. We couldn't be more proud of or students and faculty. 💚💛 by @brockportnursing

A team of SUNY Brockport School of Nursing graduate faculty has published an open-access workbook for NP students with 50 cases and review questions that focus on applying content from Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Health Assessment to help ensure NP students are prepared for their clinical rotations. The text is freely available for integration into an LMS or for individual student use. Instructor resources and a 300 question LMS compatible test bank are also available.
