Back in the fall, my friend and collaborator Caleb approached me with an idea for a horror short. I said sweet, he wrote a script at 3 AM and then I turned that chicken scratch into the final draft of a short film called “STATIC”, not to give anything away, but it’s a film where a TV does spooky things to people.

Several long nights were spent toiling over different shots, sequences and scenes. We even borrowed furniture to make the set look lived in!

Caleb Directed the short while I remained as the Director of Photography making sure the shots, visual tone and camera moves lined up with what was in his head.

We brought in a handful of underclassmen to serve as PAs, 1st ACs and grips.

Overall the project turned out great, though we had a few hiccups along the way. STATIC premiered at the UNSPOOLED Film Festival in early May.

It’ll be posted to YouTube whenever Robinson and Caleb finish the VFX. by @brohatt07
