There really isn’t another sport I’ve done that teaches harder lessons. I have never had to experience failure as much as I did inside that circle in any other circumstance of my life. It was extremely challenging at times especially because I started so late. That being said, I am so glad I did. I could not have had a better team or better coaches and mentors than I was blessed with for this ride. I’ll never truly let go of my time in the wrestling room and, looking back, I am eternally grateful for those hard lessons. You never truly know what you have until it’s gone. Football//HoCo//Powderpuff.
From being in elementary school sitting at the top of the stands on Friday’s watching the high school guys play to becoming one of those guys. This game has taught me more than what words can express, especially through this unique experience I’ve been a part of. Most of us got a rough taste of what varsity football was starting as sophomores. We were 15 and 16 years old going against seasoned guys resulting in a 2-8 season. I did not know at the time that later on this season would be absolutely necessary and we wouldn’t have the product we had senior year without it. I have been in the lowest places of doubt with this game, even considering not playing at times, though I know I’d never quit. I have also seen some of the best moments of my life between those lines, watching my brothers find success and improve upon their skill and finding success of my own. Not to sound conceded, however I feel that the guys that I’ve grown with and myself have built, implemented, and maintained the most important part of this game, the bond of a brotherhood. We gave all we could and sometimes still came up short, which I believe is one of the most beautiful aspects of this sport. That being said, there is not anything in the world you could offer me to trade my 4 years of football at this amazing school away. I’ll never lose those valued lessons I’ve learned while experiencing the privilege of getting to be called a Lawson Cardinal football player. To this sport, I say goodbye and thank you for these 12 years. To my coaches, family, friends, and most of all, my brothers, I thank you. #53 out ❤️ taken in The Nest by @broitsbraxton1
