Some of you already know, but I wanted to inform the rest of you of our loss. Our brother, Mark Kirk passed away, Saturday, May 16th, on White Mountain. He was riding with me and Dan. We decided to break off from the main group, after Gold Mountain, because the three of us had been off the bikes for a while. We rode John Bull after, and of the three of us, Mark was riding the best, as he does. We rode 3N16 over to Malcom, slowing way down and waving to all of the many hikers on the trails today. The photo was taken at the staging area, 25 minutes before everything changed. We decided to take the upper portion of Malcom to the White Mountain trail, stopping along the way to move a gopher snake, that Mark said was beautiful and said it looked like it just shed its skin. At about noon, on an absolutely beautiful day, Mark also shed his skin, exactly how he wanted, riding dirt bikes.

I’ve known Mark for about 8 years. I met him on Gold Mountain, after he crashed his friend’s bike, coming down the steps with the tree side pass. This was the first time I heard his unforgettable laugh. We all still hear it. Thank you for sharing your final ride with me brother. We love you Mark. #BEcrew by @brokenenduro
