Leaving Ranupani, my expectation was higher. I confidently cruising down Senduro forest at 3pm, making use most of my offroad skill to overcome potholes and unpaved road without losing my speed. It was a long descent and sleep is overtaking me. Another short break and powernap, allow others to overtook me.
"Nothing to worry, just sleep" I said to myself as I forced myself to sleep.

20 minutes later, I sped to the nearest city leaving Senduro behind.

Drowsiness attacked. My mind was fully 'awake' but my eyes were not. I experienced micro-sleep along the way. Still I chose to took few powernaps along the way when I shouldn't. More riders passed by, and I got more anxious. I had to force myself awake as I passed Jember towards Gumitir.

It was the worst 10 hours ride to Banyuwangi, the finish line. I experienced more micro-sleep than ever. Not to mention the traffic where all cars, lorries, and motorcycles were speeding and overtaking each other in both directions. Forcing me to go to the road shoulder a few times to avoid them.

The last 30km entering Banyuwangi was the worst for me. As I was getting close to the finish line, I was hynotized by the view. Not for the beauty, but the repetition of a similar view along the way. As if I was riding in deja vu, keep on passing the same terrain and the same view, except the decreasing kilometers marker on my cyclo.

At 9.15am, I finally arrived at Hotel Blambangan, Banyuwangi. No celebration, just a simple welcome from the crews. Brevet stamped and I'm officially a Bentang Jawa finisher. Fatiques took over my body, but nothing beat the freshness of a beer after a very long ride. A perfect reward for days of torture🍺.

Time to rest...

That afternoon as I was waiting for the Pizza Party, @fathijunaidi was making his way to the finish line. Going all out at TT mode for the last 30km, he arrived 4 minutes before COT. And the best way to celebrate his arrival was to welcome him like a celebrity.

What a moment, it was unforgetable...

And the party begins.....
Pizzas and more beers🍻
Laughed and talked our pain away, making new friends.

Big salute to @bentangjawa 's big five.

To Bromo I shall return

As I left CP2 towards CP3, I can't help but feeling excited. Imagining myself watching the sunrise from the top of Jemplang over-seeing the great Bromo mountain. But my body say otherwise. Days of sleep deprivation started to show it's effect on me. I had to stop few times and took powernap every hour. It started to break me mentally, especially when I realised I'm not going to make it to Jemplang by sunrise.

2.20am, a message came in from @od.n.k . A little chat and encouragement from him awaken me. I decided to change my strategies and priority. Making sure I keep moving to reach Jemplang as soon as possible. Sometimes help comes unexpectedly in an unexpected moment.

Next -->

I reached Tumpang at dawn. Decided to had breakfast before start climbing up to Jemplang. As soon as the sun kiss the sky, I continue my journey to Jemplang

It got steeper and harder as each kilometer passed by. I had to push my bike for more than 10km up till the top. Found myself drenched in sweat despite the cold air around me.

4 hours later, I finally reached Jemplang. Took pictures at the legendary board-marker, and have a short rest before moving forward to Ranupane.

Carry on -->

Little did I know that Jemplang is not the top yet. I still have to push my bike for another 5km to reached the very top of that segment.

As I get closer, I was greeted with the amazing view of Bromo's savannah and it's surrounding. I had to stopped and watching in awe, can't believe I finally see that iconic view of Bentang Jawa's most famous segment.

This is the reason why I joined Bentang Jawa...

More -->

My heart lost in the moment but my brain kept reminding myself to continue my journey.

I wiped my tears away and started to ride down to CP3, Ranupane.
Bought 2 bunches of edelweiss for my wife @ratna_sank and @wise_000000000 my daughter (named after the flower).

5km later -->

The crews greeted me warmly at Ranupane. I checked in and had more rest there. Enjoying a cup of noodles brewed by @kholidbadrudin and charging my electronics. Have a little chat with the crew before leaving to the finish line.

217km left to go

Road to Blitar

They say once you arrived at CP1 under COT, everything will be easier and you're going to make it to the finish line. Well...... they lied....

I would say road to CP2 at Blitar is one that could break you mentally. 715 km with various challenges along the road. Headwinds, long straight boring road, deadly obelix climbs, and unexpected gravel sections welcomed us along the way. Not to mention fatigues and sleepiness I have to fight along the way

As I passed the border of West Java and Central Java, I ate a spicy food. As a result, I had an upset stomach along the way to CP2. A 3 days journey with lots of stop to relieve myself. Wasted a lot of precious time. The worst is I have to relieve myself in the middle of the night at rice field, since I can’t find any houses around.

Fatigues attacks and sleepiness stayed. I arrived very late in Pacitan on the 4th night and dusted badly, so I decided to checked-in a motel there and had a short proper sleep.

Woke up at 3am and had a refreshing cold shower. Head out to Blitar against the clock. My stomach still grumbling, less toilet stop though. Beautiful scenery along the way cured me mentally, as if they're telling me you're still on the right path, push yourself and you'll be fine.

And in no time, I arrived at CP2 in Blitar 6 hours before COT. What a relieve!
Told myself to have a short rest, trying hard to sleep among the noises around me and zzz......

Greeted by headwinds and sidewinds along rice field on the way to Kebumen.

Unique ship-shaped building in Kebumen.

That long steep climb, comes with long stretch descend.

Kabanaran Bridge / Jembatan Kabanaran in Yogyakarta

Yes, you read it right. 38% gradient. And my hand can't hold my phone properly anymore.

Even @amyygaudion and @doyletime had hard time at Obelix.

Notes: my phone is straight, the road is not....

Somewhere after Obelix, we entered a tobacco villages. Keep on climbing until we reach the top and redeemed with this beautiful view. Wonderful Indonesia

Darkness is a good friend

A beautiful rice terrace as I left Pacitan that morning.

A rare sight for me to see farmers working together planting in rice fie by @bromptk

RCP and Check Point 1

It’s a long way from home to reach #bentangjawa2026 starting line at Carita. Arrived 2 days earlier to make sure I didn't miss the fun before the race. Got my Oliver checked and racing pack #cap142 on hand. The vibe in Carita was awesome. Met some of my idols in ultra-cycling, can't help but feeling proud and happy to share same spot at starting line. Sharing laughters and happy stories, getting to know each others and had a good sleep.

August 16, 2026, 05.30 (GMT+7), the race begun. We rode against the wind to Check Point 1 at Ranca Buaya. I kept a steady pace, not to be bothered by other speeding riders. Yet, I was tested with almost the same trouble as last year. At KM130 my spoke snapped, forcing me to detour and find a workshop around the area, spending 2 hours to fix it. Luckily found a great mechanic to strenghten my wheel, even though it was still wobbling, at least I could still ride my bike. And just my luck as I reach KM200, my chain snapped in the darkness of night. Spent another 30mins to fix it before continuing my ride.

Slept at KM250 at Pelabuhan Ratu for 1 hour before continuing my ride. I swear I had never riden this hard before. Chasing COT to CP1, struggled with the last long steep climb. Those 30km felt like 100km to the check point. Glad to reached there 3 hours before COT. Relieved and felt blessed as I finally arrived at the 'deciding point' at the 1st check point, Ranca Buaya.

I decided to rest longer there. Shared a room with @diko.cc , had a decent 3 hours sleep before started riding again in the darkness. by @bromptk

Last long ride…
Since I’m going to host Lintas Borneo ultracycling event next week, I've decided to take 1 last long ride to test myself out. Full ultra set up on my bike to get the “feel”, target myself to finish under 10 hours. End up finished in 10 hours 36 minutes.

Started very early to avoid getting exposed to the sun too much. But forgot to pack my sunglasses and sunblock.

First 100km is good, completed in 4 hours. The return trip is another thing. As the sun rose up, I can’t escaped from its excessive ray and heat burning my skin. Planned to eat while riding, end up stopping for a meal and cooling down my body.

Conclusion : My endurance slightly increased and I think I have a better chance to ride more consistent at @bentangjawa this August. by @bromptk

Yes, that’s me.
The 3rd generation of a family in the bicycle business, everything about bikes is practically in my blood. Born and grown up around them, I learned everthing from scratch. I found a deep sense of joy in bicycles.

Not even sure when it became my passion. It’s not just about riding; repairing bikes brings me a unique kind of satisfaction. Seeing a customer’s satisfied smile is what motivates me to keep learning. Much like a wheel that never stops turning, I am still on a journey to understand them better. There is always something new about bicycles that seems to never end to learn.

Yes, this is me.
A mid-age man sitting in that corner, getting busy with tools and giving my best to perfect the bike.
Not perfect but feeling blessed.
Welcome to my life…
