During Children’s Mental Health Week, we talk about resilience.

But children should not have to be resilient to bombs.

A regulated nervous system begins with safety.

The children of Gaza deserve more than survival.
They deserve sleep.
They deserve play.
They deserve peace.

Today I’m doing a 24-hour solidarity fast organised by Hunger for Justice and Prisoners for Palestine, to support the eight brave young people on hunger strike in British prisons.
They are on remand, not convicted, and their health is at risk. This fast is to show: they are not alone.

I’m also fundraising for the Gaza Winter Appeal, families and children are freezing and need urgent support.

As we welcome 2025, I find myself reflecting on a year that has been both the saddest I can remember and one of profound personal growth. 2024 was marked by heartbreak, witnessing the genocide in Gaza and the unimaginable suffering of children and babies. Yet, amidst the grief, it also brought moments of clarity and experiences that have shaped me in ways I never expected. I have the Palestinian people to thank for that—their resilience, strength, and humanity have been a source of inspiration and deep reflection.

To the new friends who feel like family, who get it and make me feel less alone in this fight, thank you. To everyone, I hope 2025 brings the courage to do one thing for Palestine. Our privilege can exist and be enjoyed, alongside heartbreak and our relentless call for justice

Wishing health, peace, and hope to all in the new year. Let’s keep shouting, keep growing, and keep believing in a better world for us all. ♥️🇵🇸

I want to express my deepest gratitude to the incredible Paul Weller and his beautiful wife Hannah for inviting me to the Gig for Gaza and for using his platform to speak out for justice when so many remain silent.

Repsenting the Derry branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) at this event was both a privilege and a deeply moving experience. Paul’s solidarity and willingness to amplify the voices of those suffering in Gaza remind us all of the power of art and activism coming together.

"WORLD" Mental Health Day? Yet, where is the outrage for Gaza?

It’s ironic, isn’t it? We celebrated World Mental Health Day, but I saw very few posts from my fellow health and social care professionals—mental health workers, the "be kind" advocates—about the devastating mental health crisis happening in Gaza right now.

Children, women, entire families are enduring unimaginable trauma.
📍Women are giving birth by C-section without anesthetic—where’s the outcry from midwives?
📍Children are collecting the remains of their siblings or witnessing their parents being killed—where are the social workers speaking up?
📍630,000 children with no schools to return to, no safe space to play, no friends to interact with—where are the teachers voicing their concerns?
📍Civilians are living through the most horrific circumstances, their mental health in shambles—where are the counsellors and so-called well-being advocates?

The silence is deafening. The phrase "people show you who they are... believe them" has never rung more true. How can we claim to care about mental health if we ignore those suffering under the weight of a real-time genocide?

This Monday, 7th October at 6:30 PM, we will gather to commemorate 365 days of relentless genocide in Palestine. We stand with the people of Palestine, honouring the lives lost and resisting the ongoing violence.

Starting at the Verbal Arts Centre, Bishop’s Gate, we will march together to the Guildhall, where we will hold a vigil and a minute’s silence to remember those who have been murdered at the hands of the IOF.

Let’s come together as a community and show that Derry stands with Palestine. Let’s make this the biggest rally Derry has ever seen.

Thank you to Derry IPSC for the opportunity to speak at the Palestine Election Debate in St. Columb's Hall.

Sinn Féin turned up at the White House but couldn't turn up for the hustings.

Derry has led the way on Palestine solidarity and I'm proud to have played a role.

Working with many others Derry IPSC has organised and supported massive marches, BDS actions, fundraisers and much else to stop genoicide.

We were the first Council to propose the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador. The first Council to call on all Irish political representatives not to join Biden in the White House. The first Council to agree to a Ethical Procurement Policy. The only Council to welcome BDS founder Omar Barghouti for a deputation. And we must do more.

Make Palestine a Red Line on July 4.
