❀༉ Watching Queen’s Budapest concert and then hearing Brian and Roger reflect on it makes for such a special evening. In this lovely moment from the Q&A following the London premiere, there’s laughter, affection for Freddie, and a little reassurance from the audience when Brian starts remembering the mistakes🤭

❀༉ Roger begins by joking that watching the concert left him exhausted! But it’s his reflection on “the intense vitality of our Fred” that touches me most. He speaks about how hard Freddie worked and the extraordinary energy he gave to that stage.

❀༉ Those two words, “our Fred,” hold so much affection. We watch someone whose voice and performances have become part of our lives. Roger is also watching his friend, the man he made music with, travelled with, laughed with and performed beside for so many years. Hearing him speak about Freddie while seeing that familiar energy on screen is especially moving. Behind those few words are years of shared experiences, and a love we can hear whenever he talks about him.

❀༉ Brian, meanwhile, admits that he still notices the mistakes, finding himself tense as he watches the performance again. Then you can hear Bronwen reassuring him from the audience that they hadn’t noticed them at all! His surprised response, followed by a joke about there being no such thing as mistakes, makes everyone laugh. I love that little exchange. While Brian remembers what could have gone differently, the audience is caught up in the music and the joy of seeing Queen together.

❀༉ A huge thank you to Bronwen for filming this and kindly sharing her video with me. Hearing you join in makes it even lovelier! I’ve added a few moments from Budapest alongside their reflections, bringing the performance they’re remembering into this little glimpse of the evening.

Sitting in the front row at the BFI IMAX for the UK premiere of Queen Budapest had two massive advantages. One, I was right next to these two rock legends @brianmayforreal and @rogertaylorofficial for the Q&A. Two, I literally feel like I just saw the best @officialqueenmusic concert ever, like was actually there, it’s incredible. Honestly, it’s hit after hit, see for yourself October 7. 🤘🏽🎸⭐️ #queenbudapest taken in BFI IMax Waterloo by @bronwenmurphy

Loved watching Pulp’s feature film at the cinema What Do You Do for an Encore? 💖 (Part concert film, part career-spanning documentary) Directed by Garth Jennings. Superb work by @pauldugdale @amojamo23 and the team, so lucky to have been part of it, to get a credit on the big screen and experience the night at the O2! Please try and see it, so many interesting moments in @welovepulp long career, also see it just because @jarvisbransoncocker is so watchable!! ✨
