STORY TIME: How I found my Mustang on eBay and refused to sell it.

When I got pregnant with Jerell, I sold my purple 1995 Mustang GT 5.0 because a rear-facing car seat wouldn't fit. I was heartbroken, but promised myself I'd own another one asap. (I even jimmy-rigged a car seat hook into my '68 Mustang's rear valance in case I wanted to take him for a ride.)

When Jerell was about 9 months old, I found a 2000 Ford Mustang Roush Stage 2 on eBay, listed by a professional golfer for $19,000.

And yes, I bought it. Off eBay. Sight unseen.

The car was in Oregon, we lived in California, and my parents lived in Washington. So I sent my Dad the check, and he and my Mom picked it up on their way to visit. When my Dad pulled up in that car, I was IN LOVE. I put it in car shows, won lots of awards, joined a black Mustang club, and did so with a tiny tot by my side.

A few months later, Jerell's dad and I divorced. I got the car, but we had mountains of debt and horrible credit. The smart thing would've been to sell it. Instead, I refinanced at a ridiculous interest rate because I wasn't going to let it go.

Then I drove it nearly 1,000 miles in the dead of winter from California to Washington, over three mountain passes during record snowfall. My Dad had my '68 on a trailer, and the Roush took a beating from gravel and road salt, but It made it.

It took me SEVEN YEARS to pay that car off.

As a single mom, I worked as a trainer, bartender, detailer, babysitter, house cleaner... Every side job imaginable. Whatever it took to support my son. Keeping that car meant even MORE hours and side jobs on top of everything else.

I'll never forget the day that title arrived in the mail.

Was keeping it financially responsible? No. But I'll always be proud of the woman who worked her butt off, raised her son, and refused to give up on that car after my marriage failed. I've never been one to do things the easy way, anyway.

I wanted that car, and I figured it out. And all these years later, I STILL HAVE IT. It somehow represents how I was able to win, regardless of failure. Something I've had to do my entire life 🖤

First time out of athletic clothes in months... Had to document.

Twas a week yall!! 68.5 hrs put in at Liberty Lake and managed to hit Foothills for a few hrs, as well. Today was my one day "off" so I took full advantage. Got up early, went grocery/essentials shopping (which I usually don't do in person, but I did today), decorated my porch for fall, cleaned up my yard/ mowed, did laundry, and food prepped.

I can't even explain the extreme fatigue that I was feeling the first half of the week. Between getting no sleep, working excessive hours, and finally completing the insane process of putting this gym together, I honestly can't remember ever feeling that tired.... Physically and mentally. Drained. But then I reminded myself, as I have to do often, I chose this. I need to be grateful that I have the ability and the drive to do these things wholeheartedly and not give up.

Here's to another crazy week ahead!!

Yesterday was a really big day for me.

Standing inside the doors of my second gym location at 48 years old, I really didn't have a lot of time to take it in. So today, I’m allowing myself to say something that I think we don’t say enough: I’m incredibly proud of myself!

This is, without question, one of the greatest accomplishments of my life, and was far more difficult than I'd anticipated.

There have been several times in the recent past that I've found myself contemplating a completely different vision for my future. I thought about trying something new... opening a different kind of business.

But I decided to trust what I had spent so many years learning, building, and mastering. Literal, blood, sweat, and many tears, and mental breakdowns.

I built a woman-owned gym (starting in the Northtown Mall!!) in an industry that has traditionally been dominated by men. Along the way, I’ve heard it called a “girl gym,” a “cult,” and even "a joke" by some. But I’ve learned to let the noise be the noise and just do me...

I couldn’t be more proud of the vision I’ve stayed true to. What makes me most proud is knowing that people from all different backgrounds, ages, experiences, and fitness levels will walk through those doors just like they do at Foothills. Noone has to fit a certain mold. They simply have to want to be part of a community of like minded individuals and train.

Sometimes the next chapter isn’t about starting over—it’s about taking everything you’ve learned and building something even greater with it.

I’m proud of myself. I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has believed in this vision and helped US get here. I acknowledge the many risks, the failures, the lessons, and everything it took to get where I am.

And I’m excited for what comes next.

A little fall refresh in my bedroom integrating olive green bedding. The warm earthy tones, soft textures, and moody lighting makes this space feel so cozy.

Fall made its way into my bedroom, and I’m not mad about it. 🤎

Your girl has been BUSY, y'all! I haven't touched my hair in months, nails were lifted, brows a hot mess... I decided last night that I was going to get up in the morning and take some time and get it all back together. Phewww. Feeling like myself again!

Busy AF. Can't wait to have this gym open. Sooooo many issues and obstacles, but I'm built to overcome whatever comes my way. Maybe not always gracefully... I lose my s*** here and there. But, it's coming together.

Special thanks to Bradley at @diamond_detail_pnw for bringing the paint on my truck back to life!! It needed it badly. If anyone is looking for a good buff and wax, hit him up!! Also FAR more reasonably priced than others in the area w/ superior results. by @brooke_chromeptc

Last night I was sitting in my living room literally sobbing. That's part of business ownership and trying to grow that people don't see. The extreme stress and feeling of loneliness and doubt can be incredibly overwhelming. However, when the storm began, rain pelted my windows, the beauty of the lightening strikes, and deep rolling thunder, oddly gave me a deep sense of gratitude and peace. I know this process will be worth it. I do have the most wonderful staff beside me and an already incredible membership base.

I know people are looking for something positive, distracting, peaceful, upbeat, inspiring, and motivating right now. That's Chrome. That's us. That's our purpose. Thank you for being a part of it. -Brooke by @brooke_chromeptc

Last time I posted, I recieved a DM from someone telling me I should "switch up" my "pose" for pictures because I always post the same thing. In typical Brooke fashion, here's another picture in the same pose as usual.

I've never been one to do what anyone tells me to do in any aspect of life or follow the norm. I've never been one to allow anyone to tell me what I can't do either...

Yesterday, one of our clients told me she's proud of me (which I can't say I hear often and it meant a lot.) She ran through my accomplishments... Being a single Mom, raising a great man, while building a successful business, my dream home, and now another location. All of those are things (and more) I did despite being told what I should or shouldn't do, could or couldn't do, by other people, societal norms, being a female in a male dominated industry, etc. I'm proud of myself... It's oddly hard to say, but I am. by @brooke_chromeptc
