Last week was 6 months of owning Ruben & today’s lesson was an absolute top ten ride! I really think I ‘earned’ it after going through a bit of a rough patch! There have honestly been so many times in the past 6 months where I’ve questioned why I thought I could possibly ever be ‘good enough’ to ride an FEI horse, or compete in EA comps but apologising doesn’t help, so I just need to shut up, ‘ride on’ & keep trying to improve!
@holly_shoobridge you are so wonderful, insightful and clever in helping me to build skills and confidence, so thank you. 😊💕🙏 & thanks @jastudioau for capturing today’s fun! 😘

Ride one. He’s a kind soul 🧡

The journey of Brooke and Ruben! One day I’ll stop doing funky things with my shoulders, neck and left hand! And blobbing around like a jelly on a plate! 🙄🍮🥮 by @brookecmorrison

It made my heart full to see these two very different personalities launch into their first grooming sessions! After a very bumpy start where Louie was terrified of Ruben and poor Ruben was horrified at having to be the boss, they really seemed to identify as being ‘herd.’ There were some missteps and a bit too much enthusiasm on Ruben’s part, but with a fence between them, Louie remembered to be brave and sorted him out! 🥹 🩶🧡 taken in Quiet Oak Performance Horses by @brookecmorrison

🧡I love my lessons with Holly so much! 🧡After a week of ‘learning how to ride a spook’ (🙄🤪) today became a surprise play day! Ruben tried so hard, was very forgiving of my missed attempts and absolutely appreciated his cuddles from Holly at the end! 🥰 Holly, you’re clever, insightful, fun and wonderful! Thank you so much for everything you do for us! Xx B&R @hollystansfieldsmith by @brookecmorrison

🧡 Ruben 🧡 Not long ago, while wondering if Louie would ever come back into work (he has!!) - I said to friends that I was sure the ‘right horse would manifest itself’ for me. And here he is, the wonderful Ruben who has been owned by @laurahoffy for the past 8 years. (He lives on the same property and just a few paddocks down from Louie!)
Laura and Ruben have had a mighty partnership, achieving amazing results in both HRCAV and EA dressage with them hitting their final goal of competing in Prix St Georges recently. 🫶🏼 💫 I’m really excited to get to know Ruben better & learn where all ‘the buttons’ are- and Louie will love having a paddock mate again! 🩶🧡 Thank you Laura for trusting me with your beautiful man. 😘🧡 taken in Quiet Oak Performance Horses by @brookecmorrison
