We shared the news back in December, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to make one more fun dress-up memory to look back on 🙃

T-minus less than 2 weeks until the movers pack up our house and we move into a hotel…
4 weeks until we ship my car…
and 5 weeks until we board a plane and say goodbye to Hawaii. ✈️🌺

Honestly, it feels bittersweet. Somewhere along the way, this island started feeling like home & we’ve really been soaking in every memory we can here. But as hard as it is to leave, we also trust the plans God already has waiting for us in Texas🫶🏻

We spent the weekend visiting one last island, wrapped up our homeschool year yesterday, and now it’s all starting to feel very real.

Fort Bliss, we’re ready for all the adventures this next chapter holds 🥰

The journey to Finding Freedom…

•Broken homes & my dad’s passing led to my husband & I meeting in 4th grade

•Fell in love our junior year of high school, said “I do” at 18💍

•My dream of being an ER nurse was soon shattered by his career in the military so I pursued business instead

•Started a fitness business that eventually led me to Christ after the loss of my mom

•After years of doubting He could ever use me I surrendered everything and asked Him to

•Discovered a love for His Word & teaching women how grow in their love of it too

•3 back to back babies + a business + teaching women + military life…forced to learn time management skills

•Felt led to let go of fitness business, attend seminary, & establish myself as an accredited Bible teacher

•Combined my love for teaching the Word & skillset of time management to create @thefindingfreedomco , a company designed to help YOU find freedom in Christ❤️

& here we are 🫶🏻

I didn’t know it all that time, but His hand was in EVERY detail that led to HERE.

The detours…
The roadblocks…
& the unexpected open doors…

There isn’t a moment I can look back on and NOT see His perfect plan in motion in some way🥹

& now, my goal, my dream, my wish, my desire, my CALL is to help YOU discover Him, surrender to Him, & let His plan prevail in your life as well.

I do this through my free Bible studies on The Finding Freedom Co. Podcast, my YouTube channel where I share full behind the scenes of our family’s life, the Bible study guides and products I create at @thefindingfreedomco, and of course here on my social media.

Thanks so much for being here. I’d love to get to know YOU now 🫶🏻👇🏼 by @brookecollins09

Another beauty of military life is that no matter where you go, there’s a good chance someone you know is somewhere nearby.

Kansas City gave us the chance to give the boys a big surprise.

They had no idea we were about to reunite with a friend, and watching their excitement made the entire stop worth it.

We shared some incredible Kansas City barbecue (yes… Joe’s really is that good 😄), spent the evening swimming, and the next day explored the beautiful Union Station and the National World War I Museum and Memorial.

It was a short but meaningful stop and we hope to get back to spend more time there some day ❤️

Not every stop on this journey was about seeing something new.

Many were simply about slowing down and spending time with friends and family and this was one of them.

Our visit with Uncle Ron, Aunt Ann, Phillip, Bethany and their little families was exactly that.

The boys spent their days exploring the woods, swimming, riding the side-by-side, meeting more of their cousins, and making the kind of memories that don’t require an itinerary.

Tim got to catch up with a lifelong friend.

& I claimed a chair on the front porch and a hammock under the trees to just chill for a few days.

Missouri, thanks for giving us a few days to simply exhale ❤️

One of the biggest reasons we wanted to take the long way home was to bring our homeschool lessons to life and this stop was exactly that 🥰

As we drove through Illinois, we got to see a side of the state we had only read about before, miles of farmland, fields stretching across the horizon, and the agriculture that plays such an important role in this region.

Then we made a quick stop at the Lewis and Clark Historic Site in Hartford.

The boys had learned about the Lewis and Clark Expedition this year, so getting to stand in a place connected to that story was such a special homeschool moment.

Instead of just reading about explorers heading west…

They got to experience the history.

And the best part?

It was an incredibly well-done museum and completely free. 🙌

Indiana was a quick stop, but such a meaningful one.

As we drove through the state, we loved getting to see the farmland and agriculture that make this region so unique.

The agriculture conversations were great, but the biggest reason we made this stop was family.

We wanted our boys to have time with Tim’s grandma, aunt and uncle, and cousins to build relationships, share memories, and soak in every moment together.

Dinner, swimming, card games, late-night laughs, breakfast, and lots of hugs.

Military life means we don’t always get the everyday moments with family that we wish we did.

So when we have the chance to create them, we take it.

Indiana, thank you for the memories❤️

I’m not sure there are enough words to describe how incredible this day was.

The Creation Museum quickly became one of our favorite museum experiences as a family.

From the incredible exhibits to the attention to detail, every room gave us something new to explore and discuss.

The boys asked questions, made connections, and soaked in every part of the experience (with a few moments of “I’m tired” mixed in too😉😂)

This is definitely a stop we will come back to, next time when the boys are all a little older though.

Grateful we made it and looking forward to going back!

One of the biggest gifts of homeschooling is getting to take what we’ve learned on the page and experience it in real life.

Our stop at the Ark Encounter was one of those moments.

After spending their whole life learning, reading, and having conversations about biblical history, getting to walk through a life-size replica of Noah’s Ark was such a unique experience for our family.

The boys loved exploring every detail, asking questions, and connecting what they had learned at home with something they could actually see and experience.

And honestly… standing next to something that massive was incredible.

This is why we love taking school on the road, because sometimes the best lessons aren’t completed in a workbook.

Sometimes they happen while walking through history, asking questions, and making memories together.

Another unforgettable stop on our long way home🫶🏻

Some places are more than just places.

They become part of your story.

Clarksville, Tennessee will always be one of those places for our family.

This is where all three of our boys were born.

Where some of our deepest friendships were formed.

Where our faith journey began.

Where the Lord completely changed the direction of our family.

Coming back after a year away felt like opening an old journal and getting to see all the ways God has been faithful since the last page.

We soaked in every moment.

Visits with family.
Breakfast with mentors who poured into us.
Time with friends who loved us through so many seasons.
Worshiping at the church where our faith story began.
Watching our boys make memories with the people who love them.

The days were full, but our hearts were even fuller.

One of the gifts of military life is getting to see how God weaves people and places into your story.

We may leave homes behind…

But we carry the memories, the lessons, and the relationships with us wherever we go.

Clarksville, thank you for reminding us where we started. ❤️

Next stop… Ark Encounter!

The Long Way Home | Part 3 🇩🇪⛰️

Sometimes the best memories are made from the little detours.

Helen, Georgia, wasn’t exactly on our route, but it was close enough that we couldn’t pass it up.

Germany was Tim and I’s very first duty station as a married couple, and it has always held such a special place in our hearts. While Helen isn’t Germany, it gave our boys a tiny glimpse of the Bavarian charm we fell in love with 16 years ago.

We arrived in the late afternoon and had only a few hours to explore before bed, but we made the most of it

A mountain coaster.
Beautiful scenery.
Skipping rocks on the Chattahoochee.
A sweet dinner with friends.
And another memory added to this journey.

We’re really enjoying taking the long way to our new home in Texas because these are memories that we’ll remember forever🫶🏻

Next stop… Clarksville, Tennessee. ❤️

Some of the sweetest moments on this journey aren’t going to be the places we’ve visited…

They’ll be the people we’ve hugged.

Our stop in Jacksonville was all about family.

Before we moved to Hawaii, we were blessed to live close enough to Tim’s brother and sister that we could get together almost every month. Those ordinary weekends became some of our favorite memories, and watching our boys grow up alongside their cousins was a gift we never took for granted.

Leaving for Hawaii meant saying goodbye to that rhythm, and we’ve missed it more than we can put into words.

So this visit wasn’t about packing our days with activities.

It was about slowing down.

Watching the cousins laugh together again.

Sharing meals around the table.

Catching up on a year’s worth of life.

And for me… finally meeting my newest little nephew and soaking up every baby snuggle I could 🥰🥰

Military life has taught us that time together is never guaranteed, which is why we treasure it so deeply when we have it.

These were simple days.

But they’re the kind of days I know we’ll remember for years to come.

Already counting down until the next cousin reunion❤️
