Let me just start by saying I NEVER thought the photo on the left would see the light of day. I remember taking this photo. I remember exactly where I was in my life, and I remember every feeling I was feeling.

This was by far one of the darkest places I have ever been.

I don’t share much of my story online, and I hope one day you will all read it in my book. But for now, I want to leave you with this photo.

For a little background, I was an athlete. I have always been surrounded by fitness and healthy lifestyles in my family. But I learned that when I wasn’t okay, it showed on me physically. And at this point in my life, I was not okay.

This was my breaking point.

This isn’t just a “before” photo to me.

I see pain. I see sadness. I see my divorce. I see letting go of myself. I see putting myself last. I see weakness. I see fear. I see feeling like a failure. I see a version of myself who had completely lost herself.

But the photo on the right.

THE PHOTO ON THE RIGHT….

I did that.

I worked my ass off for 365+ days. I showed up daily. I faced the hard things, the good things, the scary things, the exciting things. I chose myself over and over and over again, even on the days I didn’t feel like it.

And hear me when I say this… I still struggle. I still want to skip the gym. I still have body dysmorphia. I still see flaws. I still have insecurities.

But that does not mean I am not proud of myself.

And it does not mean I am not the happiest I have ever been in my life.

Life is hard. Discipline is hard. Motivation is hard. Making time to work out as a single parent is hard. Relationships are HARD. Starting over is hard. Choosing yourself is hard.

But you choose your hard.

Just make sure you choose the hard that matches your happy.

This life is way too short to live it any other way. Enjoy every moment of it!

Buckle up, because I’m not done yet 💪🏼😏

You only get one body. Be good to it 🤍

PRO TIP: Keep your old clothes throughout your journey! They will humble you SO fast and snap you right out of your body dysmorphia… for a little bit 🤪

If you’re showing up and putting in the work, be proud of ALL your progress, big or small.

Sometimes you just need the reminder of how far you’ve already come!

Don’t insult people by saying “must be nice” when you see their success.

Especially when you have no idea what it took for them to get there.

The sacrifices. The pain. The sweat. The WORK. The consistency. The days they showed up when they didn’t feel like it. The things they gave up because they wanted something more.

IT IS NICE.

And I hope you get to experience your own version of success.

But don’t dismiss someone else’s hard work because you only saw the result.

You didn’t see what it cost them to get there.

Work your ass off for the life you want. Then enjoy the heck out of it.
