This past year has seriously been one of the most exciting chapters of my life!!✨

I finally got to start exploring the kind of work I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid aka being around wild animals all day lol. I’ve always been obsessed with creatures like foxes, tigers, monkeys… literally anything with fur or feathers

I started off doing an observation course at the LA Zoo where I did two research projects. One on ELEPHANT YOGA (yes that’s a thing) and one on how monkey behavior changed during the holiday zoo lights. It was honestly so cool being able to study their moods and interactions like I feel like I was getting little glimpses into their thoughts.

Then this summer I started volunteering with animal care at the Wildlife Learning Center and it’s been the cutest chaos ever. I was lowkey scared of the porcupines at first but now they’re my little spiky besties?? One even tried to comb my hair with its hand I’m not kidding The sloth was adorable (and apparently he modeled for Flash in Zootopia so yes I met a celeb) and the giraffe literally stares at me every sunday from afar while I clean bunny enclosures so I was very happy to see him upclose. The ostriches also weirdly love me?? They started dancing every time I walked by so I decided to dance back to them LOL

Anyway. I’m just super grateful and excited for what’s next. This is just the beginning 🐾🩵✨ by @brookelynnwelsh
