Last week was World Breastfeeding Week 💛 and it made me stop, reflect and soak in all the moments I want to remember forever and also share some things that have helped me, in case it helps another mama who may need to hear this. 🫶🏼

Looking back at these photos, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and how I’ve cared for myself differently this time around - eating enough, staying hydrated, actually buying the products I needed for postpartum recovery. Because when we look after ourselves, we’re looking after our babies too. 🤍

The truth is, the fourth trimester is hard. It’s exhausting. Your body is recovering while you’re also on call 24/7 and with two little ones, I constantly feel pulled between feeding my baby and being present for my toddler.

This time I was more prepared after mastitis with Indi - @baremum nipple balm, @lactivateau and @mammae.the.embodied.mother silverettes, @haakaanz lady bugs, a vibrator for blocked ducts, and good quality maternity bras have been my non-negotiables (@wear_nala @cakematernity @mumma_milla___ and @bondsaus have been my favourites) 🙌🏾
But even then, it’s not without challenges.

And just so we can all appreciate what our bodies are doing:
✨ Breastfeeding burns the same energy as walking 11kms a day
✨ Producing milk uses 25% of your body’s energy (more than your brain!)
✨ Your milk changes daily to meet your baby’s needs, even adjusting for weather and illness
✨ Your breasts can detect a 1°C change in your baby’s temperature and heat or cool them accordingly 🤯

Amongst the hard moments, there’s this deep, quiet magic - the bond, the connection, the way the world pauses around you and it’s just you and your baby, even when those 2am feeds feel lonely. 🤎

And whether you breastfeed, pump, mixed feed, formula feed, wean early or choose not to breastfeed at all… I see you. A fed baby is a happy baby. No matter what your journey looks like, you are an incredible mama. Be proud of how far you’ve come. 🥹

This year’s theme is all about supporting mums ~ so let’s be that safe space for each other. More encouragement, less judgement. 💛 xx

Things I have learnt, done differently this time around and what I would tell myself as a then first time mum. 🤰🏼🤱🏼👩🏼‍🍼

Whether you’re in the thick of it, a soon to be mum, know someone who’s about to become a mum or just need to hear it, SAVE THIS for when you need a gentle reminder. 🤎

A ‘Note to Self’ for not only you but for me as well as I learn to navigate the highs and lows, ask for help when needed and to give myself some love and kindness. ✨

Everything I wish I knew as a then first time mum ~ I hope this helps you just as much as it helped me writing and reading this out loud. 🫶🏼

Looking for an activity to do for the last week of school holidays?… Come spend the day with us at @tarongazoo 💚🐢

We were so lucky to be invited along to the launch of the @fisherprice Little People Farm at Taronga Zoo and it really was such a dream day. 🤏🏼🐐🐓🦃

The kids got to explore the Little People Farm, see the giant characters, find all the farmyard animals and, of course, we made a full day of exploring the zoo too. 🦒

There’s also a scavenger hunt for the kids to do, with the chance to win some incredible prizes, including a family Roar and Snore experience and a Fisher-Price prize pack. WHAT A DREEAAAAMMMM !!! 😍🤞🏽

It’s on until this Sunday, 11 October, so if you’ve got one more school holiday day to fill, save or share this to another parent who might need an idea too. This is a must to add to your list! 🙌🏽

❤️ Yesterday was a real pinch me moment 🤏🏼

🥹 We were so lucky to spend a wholesome morning together celebrating @fisherprice Little People Farm at @tarongazoo filled with meeting and feeding their farmyard animals, learning about farm life, imaginative play and a scavenger hunt where you can win some amazing prizes. 🦙🐑🐮🐷🐴
