Anddddd another post for the people! I was so lucky and got to be with the most authentic, wise, compassionate, and deeply in love with the Lord people.

Being around these people stretched me in the best ways. Being in college, I’m used to being around people in the same season of life, experiencing similar things But this was different and so fun to be apart of such a diverse group, all united by one purpose.

2 weeks from today I’ll be heading to Papua New Guinea. If you know me personally, you probably know how much I wrestled with accepting that this is what I felt called to do—but for those of you who only know me on Instagram, I felt led to share!

Growing up, I saw people who went on trips like this as the “really Christian” type, and I never thought I’d be one of them. I always heard “Jesus loves you,” and I took it for granted most of my life. I wanted Jesus around when it was convenient, but I never really read my Bible or asked him what he wanted for my life. I figured, “He’ll always love me no matter what” and while that is true, I’ve realized over the past two years, I’ve started to feel the weight of what it really means that Jesus died for me. And honestly, I was uncomfortable with how I was able to accept that without feeling any emotion. I looked at Jesus death as a statement without realizing how it changes everything.

So back to this trip. God started putting it on my heart a while ago, and I was honestly so scared. A place I’d never been, with people I didn’t know? No thanks. But I’m not going because I feel like I have to. I’m going because I’ve spent too much of my life taking Jesus for granted, and I don’t want to live like that anymore.

Jesus changes us for a reason—and that reason is to share Him with others. So here I am, doing that. Ask me about Jesus! by @brookeshepard_
