POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Hello, my name is Brooke!! I’m a journalist, editor, producer, director, and anchor passionate about telling meaningful stories through video and broadcast media. Over the past four years, I’ve worked in a student-run newsroom producing live broadcasts, writing news stories, conducting interviews, and editing feature pieces that highlight important issues and people in our community.

My work has been recognized with 3 Regional Emmy Awards, a National award, and Student Journalist of the Year, and I’m always looking for new opportunities to grow as a storyteller and creator.

Through this account, I’ll be sharing my work in journalism, video production, and media, including features, interviews, behind-the-scenes moments, and new projects.

Thanks for following along!!

Sudden cardiac arrest can occur without warning, and it is more common in teenagers than many people realize. However, a single device has the potential to save a life. William Weida and I tell that story.

This story received the honorable regional student production award for Non Fiction Short form, and was nominated for the National award.

This project was more than an assignment to me. It marked the first time I fully understood the impact my journalism can have on my community.

I went from recognizing that I would not know how to respond in an emergency to helping create something that prepares others to act when it matters most. William and I dedicated ourselves to every aspect of this mini documentary, and the experience was deeply meaningful. Through interviews with experts and survivors, as well as a conversation with Ohio’s governor, I witnessed how storytelling can contribute to real change.

This project reinforced my belief that using one’s voice matters, because awareness is not just knowledge. It has the power to save lives.ā¤ļø by @brookethomas.media

This post is long overdue, but I wanted to wrap up my two unforgettable years of covering the news at Gahanna Lincoln High School through our program, Lincoln Live. Thank you to Mr. Lowrie, my classmates, and everyone who made this program so special. The skills, experiences, and memories I’ve gained here have prepared me for my next chapter, and I couldn’t be more gratefulšŸ’™šŸ’› šŸŽ„ by @brookethomas.media

This PSA produced by Brooke Thomas, focuses on the invasive spotted lanternfly and the real damage it causes to local ecosystems and agriculture. Instead of a typical awareness campaign, it highlights how this species spreads quickly, harms crops, and disrupts native plant life.

What stood out to Brooke was the unusual but practical response: people are actually encouraged to kill these insects to help control their population. That idea shaped the direction of the project. If you see one of these flies around your community, don't hesitate to squash them and become a part of stopping the spread!! by @brookethomas.media

Substitute teaching can be unpredictable, full of surprises, and sometimes downright chaotic. From learning names on the fly to managing a classroom full of students, it’s no easy task.

I had the privilege of attending the 2026 Student Television Network Convention in Tampa, Florida! šŸŽ„

My television program, Lincoln Live, competed in the Crazy 8’s Morning Show competition, and I also competed in the vlog category with two classmates.

We were honored to receive a Broadcast Excellence Award for a show we submitted in December. It was such an incredible experience to be surrounded by talented student journalists and connect with people from across the broadcast industry! taken in Tampa, Florida by @brookethomas.media

This past Sunday was the annual Nationwide marathon, featuring a marathon, half marathon, 5K, and 1-mile race, with proceeds benefiting Nationwide Children's Hospital. The event is known for its flat, fast course and has a strong community focus, with participants raising significant funds for the hospital. Our very own Brooke Thomas participated in running 13.1 miles, here’s a recap of how it went. by @brookethomas.media

You may have noticed that in every show we say ā€˜WGLH-TV presents Lincoln Live,’ and if youve been in the tv studio youve probably seen the WGLHTV logos all over. Those words go back to a time before school news was online, before social media was on phones… and many of our broadcasts were recorded on VHS tapes, every corner of the studio is filled with tapes, holding decades of memories, quietly sitting on shelves, waiting to be discovered. As the studio is cleared out for a new school year… these long-forgotten tapes are being uncovered, giving alumni a rare glimpse into Lincoln High from years past. Graduates now have the chance to relive event, see familiar faces, and maybe even catch themselves on camera.., Brooke Thomas has the story behind ā€˜WGLH-TV presents’ and the history it contains. by @brookethomas.media
