What I Did for Love ♥️

This solo has challenged me mentally and physically. It was so rewarding getting to perform this solo twice at nationals. I am so happy to have placed 7th out of 291 solos and 3rd for the title of Miss Starpower. I am so thankful for how much this solo pushed me. Thank you @matthewbrekke for this beautiful choreography. I will remember this solo forever!!

My love letter to Brekke 💌 Eight years later, I competed for the final time as a competition dancer with Brekke Dance Center. 🤍

About three weeks ago, my team and I traveled to Branson to compete at Starpower Nationals. I’ve taken time to reflect on how thankful I am for Brekke and everyone who has helped shape me into the dancer and person I am today. This nationals was the most amazing week with my friends, teammates, and coaches. It still hasn’t fully sunk in that it was my last time competing with them after this studio has been such a big part of my life since I was 12.

To my teachers and the entire Brekke staff:
Thank you for pushing, supporting, and challenging me. Every correction, opportunity, and pep talk mattered. When I came to Brekke in 2018, I had a passion for dance but very little confidence. @courtneygreteman.taylor could tell you about all the times we had to sit down and change my mindset! Over the years, I learned to challenge myself, trust my abilities, and grow in confidence.

To @matthewbrekke and @shell_b7 :
Words cannot describe the impact you both have had on my dance career and my life. From the moment I walked through the doors, you saw potential in me that I couldn’t see in myself. Thank you for believing in me and helping me become who I am today. The private lessons, assisting classes, and competition memories are things I will never forget. I wish we had more time together, but I will always smile when I look back on everything we shared.

To my teammates, friends, and parents:
I can’t believe our time together has come to an end. The friendships I made through dance will last a lifetime. The early mornings, long nights, and endless laughs will never be forgotten. To my parents, thank you for your endless love and support, especially when times get tough.

Although this is goodbye, Brekke Dance Center will always be a second home to me. I am so proud of everything we accomplished this season. Hard work truly pays off! I am forever grateful to have grown up at Brekke, and I will cherish these memories forever. ♥️ by @brooklyn_oconner22
