Backyard Run Club in Brooklyn operates on a question most crews never ask: what if a run club could make a neighborhood stronger?

Founded by artist and designer Ella Rocker in January 2026, Backyard meets every Friday at 7:30am outside Brooklyn Running Company for easy-effort runs that prioritize presence over performance.

The signature move: every run ends at a locally owned cafe or restaurant, intentionally running to Black-owned, POC-owned, immigrant-owned, women-owned, family-owned, and queer-owned businesses. The crew is built around an idea that meaningful change starts at the block level, one morning at a time.

Around a dozen runners currently make up Backyard, kept deliberately small so everyone knows names and remembers who showed up. No-drop, beginner-friendly, no membership fee.

Join us September 17th at the Park Slope location from 7-8PM and learn from the best.

We’re pleased to have RDN, Amanda Rossetti join us for the evening.

This workshop will help runners understand how to properly fuel and hydrate throughout training and on race day. Addressing common nutrition challenges, building a performance plate and fueling around a run.
