We are so happy and honored to announce a new partnership with Brooks’ Mission, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping families who have lost a child to SIDS.

Bryan and Leigh Griffin started Brooks’ Mission after their son, Brooks, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from SIDS in 2021. Struck with grief, pain, and trauma, they also had no clear answers to how or why Brooks died. They focused their energy into finding and helping other parents who have gone through a similar loss, and are providing financial assistance, resources and support to those who have lost a child to SIDS.

Bryan and Burak had been friends prior to our loss of Luke and always spoke of Brooks’ Mission and how incredible the organization is. When Luke passed, Bryan was there for us in a way only another loss parent would understand. Bryan and Leigh gave us so much hope in the early days that despite unimaginable tragedy, you can still live. They inspired us to start our own organization, to help others who have lost a child.

Luke’s Purpose will be connecting all SIDS loss parents with Brooks’ Mission for additional support, and to guide them to finding light again ☀️

Happy Birthday to our sweet boy, Brooks. Brooksy would be 3 today. Some dates can be harder than others and “secondary losses” suddenly feel much more real around certain times on the calendar. We find ourselves daydreaming about his personality, what shows he would like, what toys he would be obsessed with or even how he would play with his big brother. The pain never leaves, but you learn to live alongside it. Today, we would love to see Brooks unwrap presents with a look of excitement in his eye. Instead, we hold our family close while we appreciate the gifts of love that were given to us this year by him. Happy Birthday, baby boy. We love you. taken in West Islip, New York by @brooks_mission

I know we speak for all loss parents when I say, we’re remembering and honoring our children in heaven every minute of every day of every month of every year.

Remembering, honoring and loving you forever Brooks David Griffin.

Sending a gentle hug to all the loss parents in our community and we navigate through another month without our babies.

One of the things we’ve learned on our journey through child loss is how differently men and women grieve. Moms and Dads do not grieve the same way. One of our biggest takeaways from grief counseling was learning about these differences and how to better understand and communicate with your partner or spouse as they navigate the loss in their unique way. As a mother, I was brought to my knees. I was broken, empty, angry, distraught and couldn’t see how I was ever going to see life through a lens that wasn’t plagued with despair and sadness. I found it hard to get out of bed and function - let alone anything bigger.
As a man, Bryan felt called to channel his pain into purpose. He wanted to give meaning to Brooks’ short life and he jumped into action creating Brooks Mission. As we grew around our grief, we decided together that we wanted to help other families who also endure this unfathomable loss and all of the secondary losses that come with it. It’s our way of parenting Brooks since he left this earthly domain.

By divine intervention (likely from Brooks 👼) we were introduced to @emmasfootprints and they’ve been an incredible partner to us! They have helped us to identify families we can help with grief counseling, funeral costs, bills, costs of living, etc.
All of the things that make the world even heavier when you are already trying to survive the worst situation life could ever throw at you as a parent.

So proud of you, @nottherealbgriffin for having the strength to turn pain into purpose and create a lasting legacy of light and light for our son. 🤍🦋🙏 by @brooks_mission

“Everything we do, we do in honor of you.”
Every tear we cry, every memory we relive, every step forward, every way that we learn from our grief, every dollar we raise, every family we help, everything we do - we do in honor of Brooks. 🦋🤍🦋
His time here on earth was short, but his mission is mighty.
Thank you for supporting our work, speaking his name and allowing his legacy of love to grow.

The journey down the road of grief is so raw and heavy. The expression is true - there aren’t words to describe it.
I think one of the things bereaved parents crave most is reflected in this quote by @courage_in_time 💚.

There are no bright sides when your child has died. There is great spiritual awakening and connection to the other side that can take place on a parents individual and uniquely personal timeline- but there is no bright side.

One of the things we crave most is the acknowledgment that no, you can’t understand it unless you’ve lived it and sometimes the best gift you can provide the bereaved is a ear to listen and a voice to acknowledge how absolutely horrific the loss of their child is. “Standing with us in the storm” as we often refer to it.

Thank you for this educational and relatable post @courage_in_time 💚🦁

There is nothing sweeter than when someone can hold space for your child - let you speak about them or when someone proactively bring them up in conversation or asks about them without awkwardness.
They lived. There is no greater gift for a bereaved parent than being reminded of that.
Love and miss you forever and always our sweet Brooks David 🤍🦋🤍

“The Brooksy” is just a few weeks away. We’re so grateful to everyone who has purchased tickets and to all of our amazing sponsors! If you haven’t signed up yet, grab your tickets at BrooksMission.com!

We wanted to share one of the statistics that we just received this week - something that made our hearts happy.

For fiscal year 2023, we’ve helped 63 families receive counseling with a properly trained therapist who understand the complexities around losing a child. We hate that this happens. We hate that there is a need for this in our world.
But it does and therefore, there is.

This is something that is particularly important to us. What most people don’t realize is that grief doesn’t come with a roadmap. As a bereaved parent, you are basically dropped into the fiery pits of hell and then have to someone figure out how to still exist in a world where your child isn’t.
It is suffocating, excruciating and oftentimes impossible to navigate through without help.

We feel that counseling saved us from so many of the secondary losses that frequently occur after you’ve lost a child.

These are a few of the reasons this particular cause is so important to us.

Brooks, your light shines so bright sweet baby boy. 🤍🤍🦋
We love you and miss you beyond measure.

As always, our family is so grateful for your love and support 🙏🤍 by @brooks_mission
