It’s surprising how much I hate autumn for someone whose colour type is so absolutely autumn, but here’s a cute thirst trap from this summer which I already miss dearly and longingly. I belong in a desert, not this north eastern climate, so maybe check in with me some extra times because I’m a little fragile when the seasons change 🍂 🍁 by @broschk

Do you wanna know what the secret to my beauty in this photo is? It was taken by @adamneese who’s an official MoMA photographer and clearly knows how to create art 🖼️ Speaking of art, that insanely cool backdrop is a giant installation by @newrafael and you should come see it now taken in MOMA by @broschk

After years of calling myself “art-adjacent”, I’ve finally made it onto the big stage or rather into the big gallery. If you haven’t religiously watched all my stories or listened to literally any conversation I had in the past couple of months: I do performance art now, and you can see the final night of my first run of @whispersofrhythm tonight (11/9) at @artcake_nyc

I’ve created a beautiful piece with all my favourite artists and the best crew I could ever dream of, so grab your ticket and join me tonight!

Doors at 7pm
Theremin performance by @dethrok at 7.30pm
Performance art at 8pm
Q&A at 9pm
Generative video projections by @haleymorganmiller and music by DJ @adamleeroth at 9.15pm

Special thanks to @poetrysocietyny for being my fiscal sponsor, @nyscouncilonthearts for awarding me with the 2023 grant for interdisciplinary artists, @artcake_nyc for hosting me, @ourbarbk for providing refreshments, @nakedcityfilms @erincollettfilms and @naeemdouglas_ for documenting my journey, DJ @adamleeroth for getting everyone to dance, @meshkimono for setting the perfect ambience, @dethrok and @haleymorganmiller for running my lights and sounds and keeping me sane and enduring my dad jokes for ungodly amounts of hours.

Thank you to all my beautiful performers for trusting my vision and creating the most beautiful 5 pieces I have ever seen: @lizhasinstagram @jeanthemachine_ @gillianbowen01 @kylelivsey @matarose @manatsu.tanaka @emuloo @mlz316 @jelanireality - I’m in love with every single one of you ♥️

Cannot wait for the grand finale tonight 👩🏼‍🎤🧑‍🎤👨‍🎤 taken in Brooklyn, New York by @broschk

Join us for a performance art piece merging poetry and dance at @artcake_nyc on 11/7 and 11/8 — tickets at our link in bio!

@whispersofrhythm - Emergence is the first in a new multidisciplinary art performance series that merges the inverse disciplines of dance and poetry.

With a two-night NYC debut performance on November 7th and 8th 2023, five groups of selected poet/ dancer collaborators will create original works and performances that will visualise poetry through dance and vocalise dance through language along the theme of “Emergence”.

Dance and poetry will intertwine, with the dancers’ bodies expressing the poets’ words, enriching both art forms through their complementary qualities. Using the rhythm and style of poetry instead of music, and expressing the metaphors, styles and rhythm inherent in contemporary and modern dance, Whispers of Rhythm aims to create interdisciplinary art experiences that result in a quality larger than the sum of their parts.

Join us as we celebrate the beautiful couple that poetry and dance create, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in a captivating world where words take flight through the physicality of movement.

Featuring dancers/ choreographers:
Gillian Bowen, Manatsu Tanaka, Kyle Livsey, Liz Hepp, and Jelani Taylor.

Featuring poets: Max Bowen, Emi Bergquist, Rosebud Ben-Oni, Jean-Sebastien Surena, and Molly Zhu.
