“In between gigs” | Summer’26 🎷🌴

Shot on film: pentax 7000 maxxum 35mm x @jojean.photography__

“On the prowl, in between the phases of preparation, process and pause. This is the musician on the go.

I like shooting in film because it captures a moment in a more timeless way than DSLRs do. Editing a raw film image allows me to bring out the nuances in color, texture, shading and movement. Almost creating a painting without any actual paint.

This specific series included shots that illustrated the artist’s movement in between gigs, the pause when you have a moment to yourself and the preparation when it’s time to get ready and begin the show.

When editing I have a layered approach to my color grading and this process is tweaked as I evolve as a photographer. Color is the passion that is felt through making photos, in my eyes. Movement is the story.”

There’s a strange kind of freedom in being between gigs.

No stage to catch, nobody’s holding their breath to hear your first note…

Just some time away.

With my thoughts, my sax, and a city moving all around me.

Allowing myself to be inspired…

Around quiet corners of my city I usually only pass on my way to somewhere else.

Through the heat, by the water.

Carrying my horn like a reminder that the work doesn’t always look like work.

I play a few lines when I feel like it.

Not really searching for anything, but leaving room for what needs to find me.

Not practice, but presence.

Because silence is a part of the music, too.

And as the boats float by I remember:

That the music belongs to you before it belongs to the room. taken in Ft Lauderdale by @brothazu

At some point, you stop attending and start belonging.

You remember names, faces and discover new relationships. You continue conversations from weeks ago, share stories, celebrate milestones, and realize what brought everyone together wasn’t just entertainment.

We’re shifting culture through conversation and hi-fi connections. The music changes, the faces evolve, but somehow this atmosphere keeps growing…Come for the vibes, stay for the culture.

Before The Eighth Note, before High Power, before the movement, there were conversations.

Sessions. Experiments. Parking lots. Rehearsals. Empty rooms. Small crowds…Big ideas.

The Eighth Note is for everyone building culture before anyone starts watching. It’s something we’ve been accumulating for a while, one conversation at a time.

Sound. Presence. Culture.

Music. Reflection. Strangers becoming familiar. Finding the right people at the right time.

Nights at Fusion are starting to feel less like night life and more like a running conversation. by @brothazu

This one is for the ones who feel the rhythm of the ancestors in every breath, every beat,
every silence between syllables. For the enlightened, the rooted, the seekers of spirit wrapped in sound.

@brothazu translated symbols. The drums spoke. The wind listened. And an ancient energy moved through the room. by @brothazu
