Riding the ultimate high right now, and words can’t quite capture it. The older you get, the more you tell yourself what you can and cannot do without ever trying. The reality is, you can do any/all things you set your mind to. Sunday was the fruit of the labor I put in. All the second-guessing, all the negative stories I’ve told myself, and the many tears I’ve cried were worth it. I commit to it, and I proved myself right! WE DID IT, C!!!! You committed, dug deep, went to war with yourself, and came out a marathon! 🏅#runningwithpurpose #Victory #MindOverMatter #Triumph by @brotherbrewer

🥹Wow, Caterpillar—it’s been two weeks since you left us, and it still doesn’t feel real. Everywhere I turn, I feel you there. I turn on the vacuum and can see you trying to attack me. I sneeze and swear I can still hear your feet running as fast as you can to get to me.

You broke our hearts with this, but I know they were ready for my perfect boy to come home. I just hope we gave you a life worth dreaming about until you decide to come back to us. There’s a hole in my heart that will always be yours, and I’m okay with that. If missing you is the price I have to pay, then it was worth every moment we had together.

Thank you for picking me that day in Fort Worth seven years ago. Thank you for showing me unconditional love, for never letting me feel alone—even when I felt like I had no one. But most of all, thank you for being my friend. You are one of the best things to ever happen to me, and words can’t express how much I will miss your face.

They say what the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls a butterfly. So fly high, my little foot, and show them that Brewer love like only you can. Until we meet again, my beautiful boy—give them hell up there and watch over us🥹!! by @brotherbrewer

Thank y'all for coming to chase a few miles with me this morning. I hope y'all had as much fun as I did! #runningwithpurpose by @brotherbrewer

You ever walk into a city and just feel small? 🌍

Not in a bad way. In a wake you up kind of way.

That’s what CDMX did to me. 🇲🇽

Mexico City is not just a city. It’s an entire ecosystem. It has its own rhythm, its own rules, its own heartbeat that has nothing to do with anywhere you’ve been before. And when you step into it for the first time you realize real fast that your normal doesn’t work here. 🔥

The streets don’t move the way you’re used to. 🚶🏾‍♂️ The food doesn’t look the way you expect. 👀 And the smell of street food hits you before you even turn the corner. 🌮 The conversations happening around you are layered and loud and full of a history you can feel but can’t quite name. 🗣️

And for a minute you are completely, totally lost. 😶

Not lost like where is my hotel.

Lost like who am I in this place. 🤯

And that’s actually the gift. 🎁 Because the moment you stop trying to make a new city fit into your old understanding is the moment the city actually opens up to you. You stop being a watcher and become a player in the great game of life. 🎮♟️✨

But first it has to humble you. And it will. 🌮🇲🇽💯

Have you ever walked into a city and felt the ecosystem just swallow you whole? Drop the city below. 👇

I’m rooting for you. Love you. 🤍 by @brotherbrewer

Some trees were already old when Rome fell. I went and stood next to a few of them. 🌲

Coast redwoods are the tallest living things on Earth. The tallest one, Hyperion, stands about 380 feet. That’s taller than the Statue of Liberty with room to spare. Some of these trees have been standing for 2,000 years. Their bark can grow a foot thick, which is how they survive fires that would wipe out almost anything else. And about 95% of the original old-growth forest was logged. What’s left is what made it.

Here’s what stuck with me. They don’t rush. They don’t flinch. Fires come through, storms come through, people come and go, and they just keep growing up. Slow and steady, rooted in the same spot.

Sometimes life gets bigger than you in the moment. When that happens, I go somewhere that makes me feel small. It reminds me my problems (and we all have them) aren’t as big as I make them out to be. Not gone. Just smaller than they felt back in Dallas. If you're carrying something heavy right now, go find a place that makes you feel small. It's cheaper than therapy and the view is better.

Where's your place that makes you feel small?

Stuff I'll Tell My Kids by @brotherbrewer

Here’s the truth. Baltimore doesn’t care about your splits.

It’s a city of row houses and Old Bay, of corner bars that have outlived three owners and still smell the same. It’s a little beat up and honest about it, which made it the right place to run 13.1 miles next to the guy who’s known me since we were nine.

We met in the fourth grade. That’s 24 years of friendship. We’ve seen each other through bad haircuts, worse decisions, jobs, moves, losses, and the kind of stuff you only tell someone who already knew you before you figured out who you were supposed to be.

Somewhere around mile 10 the legs stop talking and the past starts. You don’t need to say much. You just keep moving, one foot after the other, with somebody who’s been doing that alongside you for most of your life.

Then at mile 13, with a tenth of a mile left, my leg locked up with a cramp. Guess who was right there beside me. Coaching me, pushing me, getting me across that finish line. Same as he’s always been. After that, we found the nearest plate of wings, sat there wrecked and grinning like idiots.

That’s the whole thing, really. A hard road, a good meal, and the people who stay. Everything else is just mileage.

Thank you, Brandeon, for being a great friend. Here’s to a lifetime of more memories and adventures. #baltimorerunningfestival #HalfMarathon #Friendship #RunningCommunity #runningwithpurpose by @brotherbrewer

33.🚵🏾🧗🏾

You don’t plan a year like this. It just happens to you, if you’re lucky, if you say yes enough times.

I walked down into the Grand Canyon on my own two feet. Six million years of dirt and rock doing what water and time do to everything eventually, which is humble you. You stand down there and you understand real quick how small you are and how little that matters.

Slept out on the Havasupai reservation. No walls, no ceiling, just the kind of dark you forget exists when you live in a city. The kind of quiet that makes you listen to yourself for once.

Flew a plane by myself for the first time. Just me, the sky, and no one to hand the controls to. First of many solos.

Swam in a crater that used to be a volcano. Stood in water that was once fire. Didn’t think about that until later, how something that violent can go still enough to swim in. Maybe that’s the whole point of getting older.

We spend so much time counting the things we said we’d do and didn’t. But look close enough and you’ll see you did exactly what you needed to. Every time.

Thank you, 33.

34, let’s go do shit. ¿Y si si!!!

There’s a conversation happening in cities all over this country right now about failing infrastructure. Bridges. Roads. Water systems. Built 40, maybe 50 years ago. Already done.
Then I think about the time I stood at the base of Chichen Itza.
No one said a word. You just look up.
Over a thousand years old. Still here, Still precise! 91 steps on each of its four sides, plus one at the top. 365 total. Not a coincidence. Twice a year the sun hits it at an angle so exact that a shadow serpent appears to crawl down the staircase. Scientists today are using technology to scan for chambers we still haven’t found inside it.
A civilization we had the nerve to call primitive built something that still humbles everyone alive.
I don’t know what it says about us that we can’t build a highway that lasts half a century, but they built a calendar you can see from space and encoded it in stone so it would outlast everything.
Maybe the question isn’t how they built it.
Maybe the question is what did they know about time, about permanence, about legacy that we’ve completely forgotten.
This was my third world wonder and It won’t be my last. Stuff I’ll Tell My Kids 3: Some places don’t just show you history. They show you what’s possible. #ChichenItza #SevenWondersOfTheWorld #BlackMenTravel #StuffIllTellMyKids #BrotherBrewer by @brotherbrewer

I don’t have any kids yet. But when I do, I’m pulling this picture up and showing them that their Baba & Mom was standing in Dallas Stadium when the World Cup came to town. Eighty thousand people. The energy was different. And we were right there.🌍⚽

TAKE THE WINTER TRIP 🗣️❄️☃️

Have you seen the videos where ppl say “winter is my favorite time to travel?” & then they show you a beach? Girl, same 🥹

But what about traveling during the winter to a place where it’s actually … winter ? Crazy right? Haha

Wellll that’s exactly what we did! Yes, I love a good tropical getaway in the “off season” but I also love a good snow globe moment too & that’s exactly what our Valentines 2024 trip gave! ☃️

If you watched my previous Yosemite reel (go watch it😂) you’ll see that we visited one of the most famous national parks right in the middle of winter last year!

One of the treats of being in the area was that we were also able to visit Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias! Yes, this is also apart of Yosemite NP!

This area is the largest sequoia grove in Yosemite and is home to over 500 mature giant sequoias.

If it wasn’t obvious yet- I LOVE TREES! 🌳🥰 I have been wanting to see the giant sequoias for quite a while and I was so happy we made the HIKE to do so! Although sequoias and redwoods are used interchangeably they are not the same as redwoods are more of a coastal version of the sequoias!

This was a magical experience & I’m actually glad we got to experience it during the winter. The snowy branches and foggy trees made for the perfect remote, dreamy winter wonderland! & guess what else is great about winter traveling ? LESS CROWDS! At certain points we felt like it was just us & the big trees!

Soooooooo….

Winter trip in the winter ?
Or
Beach me pls?

What y’all think? 🥹
