Το «Concerto of Korinthos» έρχεται στην Κόρινθο.
Ανάθεση του Δήμου Κορινθίων, και της Κρατικής Ορχήστρας Αθηνών, η ΚΟΑ έρχεται να παρουσιάσει το εμβληματικό νέο έργο του Leo Brouwer, αφιερωμένο στον Κορίνθιο κιθαριστή Δημήτρη Σουκαρά.

Some projects stay with you forever, and this is certainly one of them.

Last month, I had the incredible honour of recording my very first full album as a soloist with the Athens State Orchestra @athensstateorchestra , an experience I’ll never forget.

Together, we recorded “Concerto of Korinthos” by Leo Brouwer @brouwer39 , commissioned by the Athens State Orchestra and the City of Korinthos, a work dedicated to me and my homeland. We also recorded Brouwer’s double concerto Omaggio a Paganini alongside the wonderful violinist Vasilis Soukas.

It was a true privilege to work with the outstanding @delphian_records team and producer Paul Baxter, whose artistry and care made this project so special. My heartfelt thanks also go to our conductor @nikoshaliassas , the artistic direction of the orchestra, and every single musician who brought this music to life

Recording with an orchestra is something that doesn’t happen every day, and I’m deeply grateful for the trust, inspiration, and collaboration that made this project possible. In today’s world it’s a privilege to be able to dream and make music with your heart! So let’s make it worth it!

My team is on fire 🔥 and many more projects will be announced soon!

I can’t wait to share this music with you next summer. Stay tuned… 🎶

Through the Looking Glass (after Lewis Carroll) para dos guitarras fue compuesta por Leo Brouwer en 2021 y dedicada al Dúo de Guitarras Newman & Oltman. La obra fue concebida como un homenaje a Julian Bream y al legado de su célebre dúo con John Williams.
La obra fue encargada por Jeffrey Nissim y el Festival de Guitarra de Nueva York, y tuvo su estreno mundial en 2021 dentro de la serie “Recordando a J. Bream”, presentada en el Raritan River Music Festival.

Watch: Guitar faculty member João Luiz Rezende and Alan Liu ’30DMA perform selections from Leo Brouwer’s “Afrocuban Dances.”

In these works, Brouwer — one of the greatest living composers for classical guitar and a frequent collaborator of Luiz Rezende — reimagines piano pieces written by his great‑uncle, the legendary Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona.

“I adapted aiming not for a simple transcription, but rather for a chamber music reinterpretation,” he says. “In them, the dialogue between both instruments allows the original sound planes to be redistributed, while preserving the rhythmic drive and danceable character that define this cycle.”

Parábola para guitarra fue compuesta por Leo Brouwer en 1973. Su título remite “a sus dos acepciones”, tanto “alegórica” como “geométrica”, y queda abierto a la vivencia del intérprete: “Cada ejecutante la experimenta de un modo diferente”. La obra se vincula también con el mundo plástico de Paul Klee y la Bauhaus, así como con una raíz cubana profunda, donde “el tambor es un símbolo” y el baile forma parte esencial de su imaginario.
