KANTJIL IS (sort of..) BACK!

Je zal nooit je hele familiegeschiedenis kennen.. Dat is soms lastig, maar het was voor ons ook een kans. Afgelopen maanden mochten we onze fantasie de vrije loop laten gaan over wat onze opa’s allemaal hadden meegemaakt tijdens hun jeugd. Wellicht was Kakek vrienden met Kantjil.. Nee.. Hij was vrienden met Kantjil en samen haalden ze kattenkwaad uit.. ja precies!

Wil je zien hoe dat eruit ziet (of ben je stiekem fan van Kantjil na het zien van Kantjil en de Tijger), kom dan kijken!

Excited to première 'Kri' - a theatrical concert for all ages - at @wonderfeel /4th of july, 13:45 & 17:00

What do you do when you encounter a stranger who seems completely different from you?
It happens to two businesspeople. One day, they discover a cocoon containing a mysterious creature: Kri. Neither human nor animal, Kri sparks an intriguing encounter. How far are they willing to let Kri into their carefully ordered lives, and where do they draw a line?

Thanks to the Wonderdeel Keep an Eye productieprijs 2026 I was able to realize my dream to create a piece with a puppeteer. Couldn't be luckier with the very talented puppeteer @brouwera embarking on this journey with me!💯
It was a joy to have Beppie Blankert work with us on the dramaturgy, and to have @sergio_lacostumeria for the beautiful costumes👏

Enacting Ecosystems is a puppetry research residency for artistic non-human studies co-funded by Buitenplaats Brienenoord and the participants, the participation fee is €70. Running over the course of 3 Sundays: 13th, 20th and 27th of September. Get tickets through the link in bio!

The purpose of this residency is to foster interspecies encounters in a non-invasive manner. Using puppetry as a tool for meeting and understanding the other without disruption. We believe that knowing your fellow non-humans closer on a daily basis invites a more careful and responsible ways of being for us all.

Over the course of three Sundays, we will study the ecosystem around us with a help of an ecologist; make puppets, learn movement techniques and bring them to life; and create an immersive play where the puppets and the environment are the main focus.

~KRI – TRY-OUT PERFORMANCE~

Wat gebeurt er als je oog in oog komt te staan met een vreemdeling? Iemand die heel anders is dan jij? Het overkomt twee zakenlui: op een dag ontmoeten ze Kri, een mysterieus wezen. Geen mens, geen dier. Een spannend avontuur volgt: accepteren ze Kri zomaar in hun leven, en waar trekken ze de grens?

‘Kri’ gaat over samenleven in een tijd waarin verschillen worden uitvergroot en we elkaar gemakkelijk overschreeuwen. Vervreemding, eenzaamheid, verbinding en acceptatie zijn centrale thema’s in de voorstelling.

De Wonderfeel Keep an Eye Productieprijs is dit jaar toegekend aan componist en altviolist Yanna Pelser. De première van haar winnende voorstelling Kri vindt plaats op zaterdag 4 juli tijdens festival Wonderfeel op Landgoed Groeneveld in Baarn.

De try-out is gratis toegankelijk, maar reserveer wel een ticket in verband met beperkte capaciteit!

What stories can exist on a smaller scale? On one tree, or underneath one rock? Which stories can we find on a bigger scale? A whole island, or the Maas river. Insects live in much faster world than us, plants the opposite, they move so slowly, that they seem invisible to us. So, then what stories happen in plant time? The world around us hums on many levels. What will happen to us when we try to embody these stories?

During three Saturdays we will study the environment around us, look for stories and find characters for ourselves. Make the characters into puppets - experimenting with material and shape, paper, foam, papiermache or found material. And then bring them to life! Study puppetry and performance techniques, imagine how your character can move, why and how they interact with each other. In the end you will make an experimental play where puppetry embodies multiple forms of life.

This program is created by artists Lisa Zakharova, Alexander Brouwer and Marieke Stein.

Lisa Zakharova is a visual artist based in Rotterdam. She is a painter and a storyteller. She investigates the intersections between folklore and ecologies, her works described as fairytale eco punk.

Alexander Brouwer is an actor, puppeteer and also a bit of a singer. Alexander discovered acting when he was thirteen years old and hasn’t stopped performing since. He now also runs many workshops for people who want to embark on their own journey as puppeteers.

Marieke Stein is an art educator from Rotterdam who has been bringing art and young people together for many years — in neighbourhoods, museums and libraries. Her work combines artistic imagination with social engagement, always with an eye for those who are not yet involved. taken in Buitenplaats Brienenoord by @brouwera
