Welcome to the Immortal Wards! 🖤 Listen to my voice and enjoy a taste of what’s in store in CONJURE THE BONES!

🖤🖤🖤🖤💚💚💚💚💜💜💜💜💛💛💛💛

These clips (not owned by me 😆) come from some of my favorite witch shows and layout the vibes and aesthetics:

Inside the Coven: Voodoo in New Orleans
Mayfair Witches — Season Two
Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale
American Horror Story — Coven S03E04
American Horror Story — Coven S03E10

So if you love all things New Orleans, witches (the vampires are next — your preview is in my story in Vampires Never Lie to get a taste of the Eternal Ward — and I’d never leave out the fae so you can also check out my story in Faeries Never Lie to get a sneak peek at the Court Ward), magical inheritances, and impossible love stories, then join me.

Welcome home! 🙂

This has been a whirlwind week full of the highest of highs. I got to launch my new company, @electricpostcardentertainment, and usher in my next era with my beloved Tastemaker crew, @zoraidasolo, @ncparker, @gretchen_mcneil and @writeinbk, my incredible literary agency team, @newleafliterary and my @electricpostcardentertainment squad, @haneenoriqat, @adminandeve, @carlyn_gee, @sarenasashabooks and Clay Morrell. I’m so grateful for their love, support, friendship, and trust as I embarked on this new adventure into adult publishing. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I’m so thrilled for the future. There’s so much magic afoot. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I’m still buzzing from the night. It was so great to share space with editors and publishing industry peeps after such a long time away. I’ll be sharing photos for the next few weeks for more inside looks and because there are just so many amazing photos because my amazing party planner (and friend) @citrusandpoppy designed and executed the entire party and set the tone for my new company in ways I could’ve never imagined. Katie Reintgen makes magic real. This genius made everything from scratch and transported us. The swag bags were one-of-a-kind and legendary. ⁣⁣⁣

Can you find your perfect match?

Comp titles are the books that you compare your own novel to when pitching your idea to agents. X meets Y. Usually published within the last three to five years that sit in the same market space as your novel, your comp title is the book your future readers are currently buying.

Saying your novel is “for fans of The Thursday Murder Club” or “in the vein of Celeste Ng” instantly conjures a mood, a readership, and a set of expectations.

Our latest guide from Dhonielle Clayton (@brownbookworm) explains how to find the right comparison books for your novel, how many you need, and when (and where) to start looking. Read more on our blog. A person in an orange outfit reaches for a book on a large, modern bookshelf filled with various books. The text reads, "How to Find Your Comp Titles by Dhonielle Clayton," with a subtitle about pitching novels to agents. by @brownbookworm

In the marketplace of ideas, publishing values one kind of imagination. I’m working on an op-ed about my experience in traditional publishing and how it underpays and undervalues the imaginations of Black creators. Marginalized, and especially voices from the Black diaspora aren’t “niche” and deserve the opportunity to be invested in to reach a broad and diverse audience.
