This world within a city and my eyes through which I see her
40” x 60”
Oil on canvas

My final capstone piece as I complete my bachelor’s degree ♪ *•

Just like how musicians write love songs and authors write romances, I painted The world within a city and my eyes through which I see her (2026) as a love painting. The painting is an ode to my love of history, of light and color, of the intimacy of being shoulder to shoulder with a stranger, of Chicago and Chicagoans and, of course, of public transportation. Working on a large scale invites the viewer into the painting to take part in this kind of love and encourage them to connect with their environment. Woven into the composition are the city’s tales of migration, hard working families, ambitious students, dispirited commuters, familiar pests and urban wildlife, sacred routine, and the arts, all of which help construct the spirit and culture of life in Chicago. Living, after all, is an art itself. by @brujitazz
