From sketch to skyline ⛅

This piece started life as a pile of tracing paper sheets, layers of pencil lines, redraws, and refinements. I sketch, scan, print, and trace again until the geometry and rhythm of the city feel balanced.

Once the structure’s right, I add tone and colour digitally, building up light and warmth until it captures the character of Birmingham. The old and new, side by side.

The final print brings it all together: a geometric love letter to the city I call home.

New print: Birmingham Botanical Gardens 🌿

WYLDE GREEN TRAIN STATION art print (2026 Edition)

Back in 2021 I was approached by Friends of Wylde Green Train Station @friendsofwyldegreents along with a few other artists, to create a piece of artwork on a tree slice for display at the station. Using Posca pens, I created a composition in a bold and vibrant palette which was later relocated to the garden at the rear of The Deli in Boldmere.

From that original piece I went on to develop a print version in a bright colour scheme.

Last week, I was approached once again by Friends of Wylde Green Train Station to provide a poster for display at the station as part of their ongoing support for local artists - something I was only too happy to be involved with.

Looking back at the original print, I decided to revisit the palette and make a few subtle tweaks, introducing richer olive greens and refining parts of the composition. I’m pleased to say that this updated version is now available to buy as a print on the website.

The poster will be going into the station poster box over the next week or two, so if you spot it, please take a photo and tag me.

I’ll be at the MAC Arts Market this Sunday, 10am–5pm, at Midlands Arts Centre, Cannon Hill Park.

There’ll be a fantastic range of quality artists, designers and makers all under one roof - and, importantly, in a lovely warm indoor setting!

Why not come along, browse some beautiful independent work, pick up a few gifts, and grab a coffee and cake at KILN while you’re there?

Art in the Park is much more than an art market. This weekend, Jephson Gardens and Mill Gardens will be transformed into one of the Midlands’ largest arts festivals, with over 250 artists and makers, live music, theatre and performances, creative workshops, street food and plenty of places to relax.
