The most awesomest day of my life!

I've been a SOAD fan for 20 years – since I was 10 y/o. At some point I thought I would never see them live in a concert. I was gladly wrong!

"Coco Brasil" – Brazilian grocery store in Eindhoven 🇧🇷

Since 2025, the grocery store "De Vershoek", located in the Hoogstraat in Eindhoven, began to offer Brazilian products on their shelves. Now the place is also called "Coco Brasil". There can be found many food items for the Brazilian public – or for anyone who enjoys our cuisine.

Have you ever tried any of these? And if you are Brazilian, what do you miss the most? I'm curious to know!

Finding these products around here wasn't really an issue in the last few years. There is a handful of online markets that sell them in the Netherlands. Although having groceries delivered to your door is practical, I missed the "in person" experience.

So I'm happy there's a place in Eindhoven where I can easily find a package of "farofa", or my childhood bonbons. It's nice living a bike ride away from the food I cherish and miss from back home.

It really feels like I am in a Brazilian "mercadinho" – our word for grocery stores. 💖🇧🇷

I listed below the products that I bought on my last visit. But there are many others in the store, as you can see in the other photos.

1. Farinha de mandioca – Manioc flour or Cassave flour 🍠. It's flour made from the cassava, a root vegetable native to South America. You can eat it raw with "feijoada" or beef stew. My favorite recipe is "farofa" which is roasted cassava flour usually mixed with butter and onions. I'd eat 1 kg of farofa per day if I could.

2. Tapioca 🫓 – Also made from cassava, but in a starch version. By heating it up in a pan you get a flatbread that can be filled with anything you like. It goes really well with cococnut rasps and cheese.

3. Feijão fradinho – Cowpea beans.🫘 The most famous Brazilian dish is the "feijoada", a kind of stew made with beans and pork. But we have other varieties of beans, like the fradinho. It's a common dish in the region where I come from, the Northeast of Brazil.

4. Molho de pimenta – Pepper sauce. 🌶️Spicy sauce like Habanero. You will find a bottle of these on the tables of typical Brazilian restaurants. taken in Hoogstraat, Eindhoven by @brunauga.art

Yemeni Mandi Restaurant - Eindhoven📍

One thing I love doing in Eindhoven is to explore new cuisines. I have to admit that Yemeni food was never on my radar. I'm glad to say this has changed last week.

I had two main dishes: the "Madfoon Lamp" and the "Fahsa Beef".

🍚 Madfoon Lamp: Lamb cooked in aluminum foil, served with mixed rice and Sahwak. The meat was tender and flavorful, with no need of a knife to slice it in pieces.
The Sahwak is similar to a salsa, spicy and adds a nice taste to the food. 💶€22.99

🥘 Fahsa Beef: Shredded meat marinated in Yemeni spices and cooked in a clay pot. As you may see in the video, it comes boiling hot to the table.
The meat was also tender and combined well with both the rice and a third plate, the Molawah. 💶€20.99

🫓Molawah: A big piece of bread that came with the other dishes. Its texture is similar to a pastry which gives it a good crunchiness. I could taste oil, but it wasn’t dripping in it, so it was tasty and didn’t feel heavy.

👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏻This bread tasted so good I was willing to order one more. It wasn’t necessary though because these three dishes were satisfying enough for two people (my husband and me). But there's always room for dessert. 🍨

🧇Kunafa: It’s a pastry layered with cheese and soaked in syrup. Yes, it tastes as good as it sounds. The combination of cheese and sweetness is always a win for me. We had one with Pistachio topping and there are more flavor options: Cream, Nutella and Lotus. 💶€11.99

The combination of delicious food, beautiful thematic decoration and friendly service
made an excellent experience.

My last window drawings 🍦🐕☀️

As you can see they really represent the weather through the last few months:

☃️ The third one is winter during which we had quite a lot of snow (for the Dutch standard);

☀️ The second one is the beginning of spring with delightful sunlight and warmer days.

🥵 Now we have... well, it's not summer yet, but it already feels like it at +30°C!

I'm not complaining though. May we enjoy this heat wave under a nice shadow with lots of ice cream 🍦

A week ago (Monday 11th) took place a heavy metal concert by the north-American band Machine Head, in the city of Tilburg. The concert Hall “013 Poppodium” isn’t new to the band since they played there for the first time 10 years ago.

However this experience was totally new for me. Not only was this my first metal concert in the Netherlands but also my first metal concert ever. And even after having a sore throat and pain in the neck for many days, I can affirm: it was completely awesome.

I can't wait to experience something like this again. That’s how I know I had a great-fucking-time with Machine-fucking-Head.

Doodles on the train 🚂 ✏️

As I was drawing to pass the time, my doodles caught the attention of a cute little girl. She was sitting on the seat in front of me beside her mother.

I only realised the girl was watching me when she said "wooow" and started naming the animals. When I looked and smiled at her, she replied "mooi!" which means "pretty!" in Dutch.

Such a lovely interaction 💖

Easter: The joy of learning new traditions 🐰🥚🫟

This year I was invited by a dear friend of mine to do something special. On Sunday 12th took place the Eastern Orthodox Easter which is celebrated one week after the Catholic Easter. ☦️🇷🇸

Like the Catholic holiday it is also a Christian festival marking the resurrection of Jesus. I won’t go any further into the religious aspects because I’m not a religious person. But I do enjoy keeping traditions that were taught by my Brazilian family. 🇧🇷

Although keeping traditions is great, learning something new is amazing. So I was thrilled to get this invitation for lunch to celebrate their Easter. One of the new things I learned was coloring eggs, a practice that wasn’t common during my childhood. That experience was fun and I’d like to share its process. 🐣

We dyed the eggs by boiling them using organic materials and water. We used different ones to get each color – onions peels, curcuma powder and blueberries (photo 2). 🧅🫚🫐

For getting these beautiful patterns we used parsley leaves, sheet tights and rubber bands! (photo 3) 🌿
