Day 5 of painting my trip in Taiwan! Today’s painting is for one of my favorite fruits — Lychee😋 Lychees are tropical fruits that’s super sweet and juicy with a hint of floral scent.

I’m so sad I can’t get any good ones in the U.S. since they’re tropical fruit🥲

If you ever visit East/Southeast Asia, don’t forget to try some fresh ones! I promise you’ll love them;)

These are some of the most traditional local food you can find in Taiwan. In some areas people even have these for breakfast! But most of the time they’re just served as street food/小吃. You can find the real footage of food in my last slide😆

I recently had the chance to fly back to Taiwan. I had lunch and a quick sketch between my connection at the Seattle airport. This spot near Gate A5 is a hidden gem to grab some food and chill with a great view while waiting for your next flight (lots of window and you can watch the flights come in and out). Save this for your next trip!

I will be posting more travel and food painting from my trip, where I’ll document what I ate and some old memories through painting in my new sketchbook🎨

I never really love kiwis because I feel like they sting my tongue lol but they’re so cute to paint! Save this reel for later and give it a try;)

Here’re the steps:
1. Apply water to the paper (wet on wet technique)
2. Add base layer (main color of your kiwi)
3. Add the second layer (darker/shadow area on the kiwi)
4. Trace and fill in the skin part
5. Add a tint of yellow (for more depth)
6. Add the seeds (the best part!)
7. Add more shadow to the skin part (darker shade of the skin)
8. Add shadow for the kiwi (appears opposite direction of the light)

Today’s reminder: Getting lost is just another way of finding something you didn’t know you were looking for.

I almost gave up on this painting, but now it’s one of my favorite creations.

Something about abstract speaks to me, but I’m always too impatient to finished them, because I feel like I’m going nowhere. Until I realized that it’s about the feeling it gives and emotion behind it that matters. I totally enjoyed the process more than any other painting.
