POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Some hot pots came out of the kiln before I move to Brooklyn this July. This kiln load was like acknowledgments in a book, full of acts of love. These were still pleasantly warm when I got them home and still took them in the heat to get a better look. Time for sanding and sending them off to their homes!

Bodies and Temples, Summer 2025, Jade Porcelain, 7x7x19"

------------------
This was the start of these vase temple structures I made while at Taoxichuan Art Center. This vessel is one continuous form, even though it may not look that way.

The thought emerged from a vertical stack of enlarged tea cups, each one precisely aligned to create a clean, architectural rise. While each cup remains distinct in form, together they fuse into a single, continuous body—a reflection
of how individuals, each with their own stories and perspectives, can unite in shared purpose. The ascending structure suggests both stability and aspiration, as if each layer supports the next in reaching upward.

Revisiting work from my time in Jingdezhen this past summer as the temperature rises.

This period pushed me to rethink how I work with porcelain, material memory, and the pace of making. Many of these pieces came out of experimentation, burnout, and trying to understand what it means to keep producing while everything is shifting around you.

This piece remains in Jingdezhen with @jdzinternationalstudio

I'll be sharing more of this work that hasn’t been shown here before. It still feels very present in what I’m moving toward now. taken in Taoxichuan Ceramic Art Avenue by @brush_people

Coming up in March, ‘Inversion’, a group exhibition by Noah Broomfield, Court Broussard, and Tamara Rafkin featuring work created during their shared residency at the Taoxichuan Art Center in Jingdezhen, China. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, March 14 from 6-10pm and will coincide with the opening of ‘Matter, Made’. The Eclectika is located at 711 N. Britain Rd. Irving, TX, 75061.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Inversion presents work developed during a shared residency at the Taoxichuan Art Center in Jingdezhen, China, the birthplace of porcelain. The exhibition reflects moments of looking again, reversing perspective, and allowing material and place to quietly reframe understanding.

Jingdezhen’s long history of porcelain production is inseparable from labor, industry, and ecological cost. Working alongside local ceramic artists and laborers, we experienced making as a shared language shaped through repetition, observation, and care.

We were drawn to the name Inversion not only for its meaning of reversal, but for the ceramic process itself. As clay becomes ceramic, it passes through quartz inversion, a permanent material shift. In the same way, this time in Jingdezhen changed how we see value, labor, and support systems, sometimes in ways that cannot be undone.

This exhibition is presented with gratitude to Taoxichuan Art Center and Eliza Au for their generosity, guidance, and support. taken in The Eclectika at 711 by @brush_people

Symbiosis
2025
Jade porcelain, Sagger stoneware, 6x14x8.5”

This piece was created in Jingdezhen, China during my residency @jdzinternationalstudio this summer. Recently shown @theeclectika and selected by @joshuastevenbryant for the juror choice award from @trinityceramic . Thank you to everyone who was involved and I am grateful for the support of my community.

This piece reflects on symbiosis and unification through the relationship between contrasting materials. The porcelain and the rough, earthen textures rely on one another, each incomplete without the other. Their interaction becomes a kind of living exchange, where fragility meets strength and control meets surrender. In this balance, the materials begin to unify, forming a single body that holds both tension and harmony. For me, this process mirrors the ways people and memories intertwine. How connection is built through care, vulnerability, and coexistence.

✨ New work from Jingdezhen ✨
Red Stacked Vase <<Gathering>> · porcelain and glaze · 2025
Stacked Vase with Cup <<Passing On>> · porcelain and cobalt glaze · 2025

I created these two sibling forms while in Jingdezhen, China. They’re stacks of vessels in conversation with one another—holding, balancing, and passing memory forward.

So grateful these pieces are now part of a group exhibition in Beijing, and even more thankful to share space (across distance) with @cindyclsy 💛 It feels like a long-distance artwork hug.

📍 Exhibition Venue: Beijing Shang Shang International Art Museum

Is, Was, & Will Be

This show is a love letter to the quiet labor of care, the weight of memory, and the materials that carry us through. Influenced by Object-Oriented Ontology, I consider objects not as passive vessels but as entities with their own presence, memory, and agency. Each porcelain form, each stitched thread, holds emotional resonance—not just as an extension of human touch, but as part of a larger, entangled network of being. Every gesture in this space is a conversation across time: what has been, what is becoming, and what remains. I poured so much of myself into this work, and I am honored to share it with you.

With deep gratitude to my committee for their trust, mentorship, support and guidance @amie_adelman @brooksoliver @aplaceintheuniverse @empawlowicz

Big thank you to my photographer @leallen_art 📸

Thank you to gallery staff and my colleagues and friends with your support of install and uninstall.

This was on view April 23–27
Posting a bit late (from China!)—but better late than never. Grateful to everyone who saw it in person and to those that held space for the work from afar.

Courtney Broussard is a ceramic artist with an interdisciplinary approach,
exploring intimacy, sentimentality, and shared experience through installations,
sculpture, and functional pottery. Rooted in generational craft traditions, her
practice engages in a tactile dialogue with clay, using purposeful play, problem solving, and material exploration to infuse humor and surrealism. Processes like
ceramic burnout introduce a tension between permanence and fragility, allowing
for unexpected results that challenge perceptions of memory, material, and
domestic space. Broussard was selected for the Dallas Contemporary NTX
Graduate Program Cohort “Open University” and will attend a residency at
Taoxichuan Art Center in Jingdezhen, China, this summer.

In anticipation of ‘Open University,’ opening next Friday, 24 January, 2025, we’re spotlighting the talented artists in our inaugural cohort.

Meet Court Broussard (@brush_people), an Indiana-born, Dallas-based artist pursuing her MFA at the University of North Texas (@unt). Broussard carries a sense of home wherever she goes, rooting her work in community and shared experiences. Drawing inspiration from intimacy and sentimentality, her dream-like landscapes—crafted from found objects and ceramics— invite connection and aim to evoke moments of contemplation.

“This program has profoundly expanded my research and skillset, [and has] deepened my understanding of my creative voice and strengthened my persistence in my artistic practice. I envision it as a catalyst for pushing boundaries, embracing new challenges, and making meaningful contributions to society.”

‘Open University’ is curated by Matthew Higgs (@matthewhiggs2015), Director & Chief Curator of White Columns, and funded with foundational 5-year support from Ann and John McReynolds.

“If a booboo has you feeling crummy, stick an ice cube in my tummy. Hold it to your booboo tight, soon everything will be all right!” 🐰
BooBoo Bunny, Porcelain and Rag, 6"x6"x3", Spring 2024

Growing up, my mother would wrap up an ice cube like a bunny to cure bumps and bruises. This companion that soothed me once before is just a rag now. It's not a familiar companion but an ordinary rag everyone in the house uses. I fold the bunny again to feel the comfort it once gave me.
