All of my studio time this month has gone into THIS piece. It has been exhilarating, frustrating, rewarding.

This is the first time in my life where my vision for a piece has finally matched my current skill set. My mom gave me the first spark (flowers silhouetted against a moon) and my own obsession with all things fall and the idea of an abundant, Harvest Moon took over. I didn’t have a composition lined out before I embarked; just a circle on the paper for where the moon would be. The rest I just let fall into place. Any time I was inspired by any fall bouquet, I took 800 reference photos and got to work. And the Ball Jar seemed SO excellently perfect for a fall harvest (canning the season’s bounty, anyone?!??) that I felt I had to include it.

So here she is, in all her greatness. My largest watercolor piece yet:
The Harvest Moon
18”x24”
Watercolor

The first exclusive prints of this piece will be part of my September letter club! Follow the link in my bio to learn more.

I am a little bit obsessed with this piece. I am dreaming about it at this point. I only hope I have attained the skills enough to execute the vision. ⭐️🧡🏵️

I do think this comparison is so funny! I thought last year’s oranges were 🔥! Will I transcend space and time and be able to paint 4D oranges next year? 😆 Stick around to find out.

I am having so much fun with Christmas already. I’m nosy so I have to know- do you start decorating for Christmas NOW or do you wait until after thanksgiving? 🤔 Tell me below!!! ⬇️
Most years I wait until after thanksgiving… but it’s feeling very wet and cold and gloomy in SW Colorado lately, making me want to put up Christmas lights and mistletoe this instant!! 😆🎄 by @brushandbrook

It’s a blessing and a curse to have an art studio separate from the main living space. My monitor is going every night and has never failed me! But I sure couldn’t hear anything through the pounding hail. The babies must have been tired because they slept through it all! Thunder and all.

It was cold out there tonight. I’m going to have to use the wood burning stove soon!!! I love a good fire.

How are my art friends doing? Are you finding time to create despite the chaos of life?

No matter how cute or unserious my paintings become, my brain takes it VERY seriously 😆😅🩷

I’m working on a few wintry ideas lately. This is my first iteration of starlight Santa- we’ll see if I can make him match my vision.

A couple months ago, my mom sent me this picture of her glorious maple tree in the full redness of fall, and said I HAD to paint it! And well, she was right! This is already my favorite fall painting so far and I’m not even done with it yet!
Thanks, Maman 😘

I love clouds! I can’t paint them! Somebody help! 😆🫣🫠🙏✨

Sometimes, I have to take the tape off to see if I like a piece! The perspective on this one still disappoints me, and so does the mottled blue sky 🫣 But it was still a nice escape on this fall afternoon to focus on some trees. Now back to my sick children I go. 💕🍁 by @brushandbrook

I love this one so much I might have to do an insta-flash mini print of it- what do you think?!??

These aspens I saw today are some of the brightest I’ve ever seen. Today was all mountains and fog, waterfalls trickling down red and yellow hillsides, the leaves reflecting in the puddles and in our eyes. To say I’m grateful to live in Colorado is an understatement. My bones belong here is more like it.
