July 20th is Always A Very Somber Day For Me.Because It’s The Birthday Of Someone That Changed My Life Forever. And NOT Because Of His Ability To Play A Record Or Curate An Entire Evening Of Music. But Because Aside From The Music And Especially The Pretentiousness Of Many Associated With The Superficial Exterior And Fables That Continue To Spew Media. My Life Wouldn’t Be The Same Had It Not Been For Larry Levan. Especially As A 29 Year Old He Wouldn’t Allow Me To Be Gased Up By An Industry That Totally Monopolize And Still Disingenuously Claims To Have Love And Been There For Him. And In The Worst Times Of His Life MANY Weren’t There For Him And STILL Celebrate His Name And Memory For Their Personal Benefit (And Believe Me There’s A Laundry List Of Names). For DECADES Many Of Them Have Especially Despised Of Me Because Of My Loyalty To Him. And Particularly Because I Was One Of The Few Individuals Who He’d Confirm Not Only He Respected BUT I Spoke Openly About Him And Spent Time With Him, When He Was Outcast And Forgotten (When The Limelight Dimmed). This Would Have Been His 72nd Birthday 🎂🎉🕊️ 🎉🎂 And To This Day I Miss Him Dearly. I’d Never Truly Had A Big Brother (Since My Oldest Sibling Is Only 10 Months Older Than Me) Larry Became That And NOT Because Of Music. He Gave Me Life Advice And Lessons Using Very Harsh Comparisons Of His Mistakes Allowing Music To Sway Him Like A Medusa. He Won’t Allow Me To Be Seduced By The Ideology Of Music And It’s Temptations And Dishonest People (Many Still Around Smiling) Even Reading This Today. Many Telling THEIR Stories NOW Because He’s Physically Gone.
