Panama Brown. BBS LM’s. E39.

Some cars follow fashion. Others make it look temporary.

A colour that belongs in a gallery, wheels that need no introduction, and a silhouette that puts half the modern car park to shame.

Funny how the things with the most class never have to ask for attention. They simply arrive, and everything else becomes background noise.

Money buys luxury. Trends buy attention. Taste? That’s a different currency entirely.

And not everyone can afford it.

“Eyes are the window to the soul.”

At least, that’s what BMW said back in the late 90s/early 2000s.

And maybe that’s why I’ve always been drawn to the way a car looks at you. The headlights, the stance, the little details that give it a character of its own.

Some cars are just machines. Others feel like they have a soul.

Let me tell you a little bit about this 1996 BMW 523i finished in Panama Brown…

I took the keys to this E39 from my good friend @brwn.e39 for a couple of weeks whilst my car was being stripped down and repainted, instead of choosing to go for a boring, typical ‘airport’ rental car.

Straight away, I was comparing the way it drives against my own E39 530i… and to be honest with you, this one drives amazing considering it’s sat on 19” BBS LMs!

I managed to cover around 100-200 miles or so, and the car was absolutely faultless. There are some cosmetic problems, as to be expected from a car of this age, but the gear changes are smooth and there’s no fluid leaks from the engine bay, so I can’t really complain.

Although the car might be lacking in the specification department, at least it’s got a sunroof, which is obviously my favourite feature in any car 😂😂

Regardless of what optional extras this car came with (or didn’t come with), it was still attracting attention everywhere I went. I had people approach me and complimenting it in the real world as well as on Instagram whenever I uploaded pictures of this car to my story. It’s a beautiful car and it’s definitely one of a kind. I still haven’t seen another Panama Brown E39 in person ‘til this day.

It takes a lot for a person to trust you with their pride and joy, but I’m glad you put your trust in me, thanks Sam!
