It is not just anyone who could convince camera shy me to join them for a recorded chat, but when @carolinegidieredesign and @palomacontrerasdesign invite one to join them on their @theinstallpodcast , who can refuse? They, of course, put me at ease, and, before I knew it, I forgot that it was being recorded and it felt just like the three of us chatting away at dinner somewhere. I, of course, cannot bear to listen to my own voice, so I shall depend on others to tune in. Theirs is a podcast that I never miss. If you are not already following along, join in the informative fun!! #theinstallpodcast #chattingwithfriends #bunnymellon #design #gardens by @bryanhuffmaninteriors

Another good time celebrating #Bunnymellonstyle . @thomas.l.lloyd and were greatly honored to be asked to return to Princeton, New Jersey’s #stonybrookgardenclub to share Bunny, her gardens, and her “style” at the Garden Club of America’s Zone 4 annual meeting. The conference was held at the #jsewardjohnson #gardensforsculpture which is replete with many of the late Mr. Johnson’s sculptures throughout the gardens and conference center. As we listened to the many reports from the varying garden clubs in New Jersey, I was struck by their commitment to not only share and create beauty in their communities, but their passion for protecting and nurturing the environment as a whole. We were treated to a wonderful report from one of the members just back from Washington where their group was lobbying politicians from both parties after suffering reversals from the EPA. Their unwavering dedication to the efforts of protecting and beautifying our world was a wonderful reminder that people do still care. Bunny would have been right there with them, calling on her favorite, Senator Kennedy, to get to work on this important issue. With the tenseness of “war” and all the other weighty issues facing us, the breath of fresh air and positivity emanating from this group of women was just the tonic I needed. As the speaker noted, the environment is a “long game” and it will outlast the tenures of politicians. I am also including pictures from Bunny’s childhood home, Albemarle, which is now a school. One can see why she had such a fondness for Princeton, a truly picturesque town, surrounded by rolling lawns, an abundance of trees, and flowers just coming into bloom, many of which were on display from the members in the auditorium. Thank you, #gca Zone 4 for the warm welcome and delicious luncheon. taken in Grounds For Sculpture by @bryanhuffmaninteriors

Well, it seems I’m always behind!🤦🏻‍♂️ February was somewhat a blur of bitter cold and snow that melted away as President’s Day descended…(Yet another post which will come!! @hadleykeller @thomas.l.lloyd ) I wanted to get this in before the launch of a wonderful new podcast with these two design luminaries, @carolinegidieredesign and @palomacontrerasdesign which “drops” tomorrow (well, today), Tuesday, 24 March…I was fortunate enough to spend several days with them @tvilleantiquesshow in Thomasville, Georgia. Thomas Lloyd and I were fortunate enough to participate and give a lecture there a couple of years ago and get wrapped in their cozy blanket of hospitality. Thomasville knows how to roll out the red carpet and welcome their participants with open arms. Touring houses (well, plantations!) is one of my favorite activities and Thomasville has them in spades. Thanks to the always generous Max Beverly, we were given a delightful tour of Greenwood Plantation, owned by the late Mr. and Mrs. Jock (Betsey) Whitney and decorated by late great Sister Parish @sisterparishdesign1933 …Joining us were @kkelly1901 @kevinscatalog and @ronda_carman (whose wonderful new book, “Lynn Wyatt” is a MUST for every library and coffee table!) Mrs. Parish redid the house and she and Mrs. Whitney were celebrating the redecoration when an electrical fire swept through the house in the night and the two octogenarians were left outside, safe, yet in their night clothes as the fire raged. Legend has it that Mrs. Parish contacted another client, Henryk de Kwiatkowski to send his plane to get them back to New York. They never returned…the outside structure was redone and inside stabilized but there are still remnants of burned curtain panels and singed wallpapers from that last evening before all went awry. The photos of the interiors are from the days before the fire. Then to another house @pebblehillplantation with a small group led by @lacefield.designs @cox_lee3 . The house and grounds were immaculately restored and maintained with the deft hands of @mcmilleninc . Thank you @marycathrynd for being such a delightful auxiliary tour guide!!🏆😇 Finishing up @kevinscatalog …a must see! by @bryanhuffmaninteriors

Well, what a wonderful whirlwind in Palm Beach. Thank you @flaglermuseum for a beautiful evening celebrating “Bunny Mellon Style” with an emphasis on her philanthropy. We were so fortunate to have the esteemed Harry Cooper, the Bunny Mellon Chair of the National Gallery of Art to join us for this discussion of Bunny and her enduring legacy. The Flagler Museum could not have been more hospitable with a beautiful pre lecture drinks party in the courtyard where we could chat and meet with many of the attendees. As a non technological dinosaur, I must admit that Instagram has become a wonderful tool of connectivity. I had so many “friends” there whom I had only interacted with online and was delighted to actually visit with in person. And, quite by coincidence, we ran across our Fort Worth posse who were actually the first benefactors (who have become great friends) to take a chance on us as speakers for the Fort Worth Garden Club. In this rather unsettled, fractious world, the time spent these last few days in the glorious Florida sun with such generous and gracious supporters was a much welcomed tonic! Thank you Kelly Matthews Hopkins @kfmhop for this opportunity!! #theflaglermuseum #palmbeach #florida #bunnymellonstyle #philanthropy taken in Palm Beach, Florida by @bryanhuffmaninteriors

Please, join us at @flaglermuseum 6:00 pm today (3-11-26) #palmbeach a wonderful conversation on “Bunny Mellon and philanthropy”…(Thank you, @johnnyburleson !!) We are excited to have Harry Cooper from the National Gallery of Art with us on stage to share Bunny Mellon’s influence on Paul Mellon’s collection and their joint philanthropic bequests to the @nationalgallery . As one looks through “Bunny Mellon Style” again and again, as I do, I never fail to focus on some “new” detail like the watercolors from by the talented artist #snowycampbell (who was a favorite of Bunny). They are a wonderful addition to the personal photography in the book. Of interest in today’s talk, is the question of Bunny as a philanthropist and whether her vision was realized. It will be thought provoking and somewhat a departure from our normal discussion. Do you know whom to trust when establishing your legacy?? #bunnymellon #bunnymellonstyle #gerardblambertfoundation by @bryanhuffmaninteriors

A toast to the happy couple!🥂 What a gorgeous weekend celebrating two of my VERY favorite as they begin their lives as husband and wife! @hadleykeller and @thomas.l.lloyd truly knocked it out of the park in creating the most beautiful event I have been privileged to attend. From the traditional service in @trinityupperville (the church Thomas’s grandmother, Bunny Mellon, designed and built…a structure perfect in every way…followed by a glorious reception on Bunny’s airport in a beautiful tent filled with tablecloths created by @tilletttextiles and garden flowers adorning the tables that were definitely “Bunny approved!” The signature cocktail was “Bunny’s Iced Tea (with a bit of her favorite Stoli Vodka😇) The entire evening was a joyous celebration of love with glowing toasts, warmth, and love for the happy couple. There was hardly a dry eye in the house when Thomas’s son @tloyddd welcomed Hadley into the family. I had the pleasure of staying at the lovely @welbourne.inn , where the chatelaine, Rebecca, maintains the legacy of her family’s home. We were welcomed with a copy of our book #bunnymellonstyle in a prized spot underneath her #fernandrenard (who created Bunny’s famous trompe l’oeil filled greenhouse). The camaraderie of our “house group” was the icing on the cake, so to speak! May they have as joyous a life together as we shared on this special weekend!🙏 And the beautiful topiary cookies made with precision by the lovely mother of the bride… #hadleykeller #thomaslloyd #wedding #weekend #trinityepiscopalchurch #bunnymellon #oakspringfarm #celebration #joy #love #happy #occasion #with #family #friends #cheers to the #happycouple taken in Upperville, Virginia by @bryanhuffmaninteriors

“Beautiful Day”, indeed!! I am “borrowing” a line from @eerdmansnewyork in saying yesterday’s amazing visit with @sisterparishdesign at Mrs. Parish’s “Summer House” on Islesboro, Maine was TRULY a pilgrimage to Mecca for those of us devotees of design! Thank you, Thank you, @jacksonmccard for the invitation to join @eliza.c.harris @susancrater AND the magical Apple Parish Bartlett at “Sister’s” stunning family retreat by the sea! Words cannot describe the CHARM of it ALL, matched only by the warmth and graciousness of my hosts. Open doors and windows, painted floors, inviting porches, dogs roaming in and out, flowers, chintz, needlework, quilts, rag rugs, hooked rugs, #delicious food, and delightful conversation made for hours of Heaven!! Speaking of dogs, Mrs. Parish Bartlett was in charge today of the Dark Harbor annual Dog 🐕 Show which she has overseen for almost 80 years! (She makes the 1st place winning ribbon herself!! slide 20)The feeling of family, continuity, and tradition was an honor and privilege to witness and share! We all need MORE @sisterparishdesign fabrics and papers in our lives!!! 🧺 💐🌞 🐕🏆🌟 #sisterparish #sisterparishdesign #appleparishbartlett #artist #treasure #islesboro #darkharbor #maine #design #chintz #star #flowers #sea #pilgramage #tradition #family #style #dogs #heavenonearth😍❤️ taken in Islesboro, Maine by @bryanhuffmaninteriors

Thank you @lhvatablescapes for inviting me to participate in your extraordinary event to benefit @littlehandsva ….As someone who is woefully remiss in reading the “fine print”, I accepted the mission without realizing the tables were to be based on a children’s book until I was asked exactly which book would be inspiring my table. Well, yikes, what now??? This is where the modern marvel of the internet comes through…I took a deep dive into the world of children’s books….what a plethora there are…In the end, I was drawn to the perfect title and book, “Pinkalicious” whose heroine learns that too much of a good thing (like pink cupcakes) must be counterbalanced by the dreaded green vegetable! The book, by sisters, Victoria and Elizabeth Kann, checked every box as my vision took shape. I had the vegetables covered as my dining room is porcelain vegetable repository and had remembered on a trip to New York many, many years ago I had purchased a large asparagus cache-pot from Lexington Gardens…presto, a table begins to materialize in my head! I found the perfect fabric from @kravetinc to create the tablecloth to anchor things without being TOO pink and confectionery because with every shade of pink flower I could find in the city of Richmond, I didn’t want to be so overwhelmingly PINK!! Lol!! I want to thank the fabulous @meganprattart (artist extraordinaire) who is the most “can do” effervescent person I have ever met for being my “guide” and “hands on” liaison and really got me through the set up and event, along with my wonderful compatriot (and “neighbor” @roomswithaviewsouthport ) @sarahilleryinteriordesign whose beautiful table in green was the perfect companion to my pink!! We also had the pleasure of being completely enchanted by @jamestfarmer who spoke beautifully about his upbringing, love of design, and his love of “Carl”….color, not person!!! His warmth and charm filled the room! I would have to say that warmth and charm were the theme of my time in Richmond…gracious hosts @marywinston_ …THE best porch and dogs…Eloise set up a bed in my suitcase…warm and friendly guests who were appreciative and complimentary, and a wonderful charity to support! by @bryanhuffmaninteriors
