🏗️ One of the biggest proposed developments in downtown Bellevue is officially on hold.

Kemper Development has paused its roughly $1 BILLION “The Bellevue” project indefinitely, meaning the future of the site could ultimately be decided by whoever purchases the Bellevue Collection.

Here are the details:
• 💰 “The Bellevue” was planned as an approximately $1 billion luxury development.
• 📍 The project would occupy 3.6 acres at 401 Bellevue Way NE, directly across from Downtown Park and next to Bellevue Square.
• 🏢 Plans included 234 residences and a 157-room luxury hotel.
• 🛍️ Nearly 300,000 sq. ft. of retail space was also proposed.
• 🌳 The development included a new public plaza and six levels of underground parking with room for up to 1,700 vehicles.
• 📅 First proposed in 2021, the project never broke ground. The property remains primarily surface parking and a two-story garage.
• ⏸️ Kemper Development CEO Jim Melby says there are currently no plans to move forward under existing ownership.

The decision comes as the Freeman family prepares to sell the entire 5.5 MILLION-square-foot Bellevue Collection after developing it over roughly eight decades.

That means one of the most valuable development sites in downtown Bellevue could eventually have an entirely different future.

What would you want to see built here? 👇

⚽ Everett could be getting its own professional soccer team.

A local businessman is assembling an ownership group with the goal of bringing a USL League One franchise to Everett’s planned new downtown stadium.

Here are the details:
• 👥 Everett businessman John Carswell announced he’s putting together the ownership group.
• ⚽ The proposed team would compete in USL League One, a professional soccer league two divisions below Major League Soccer.
• 🏟️ The team would play at Everett’s planned Outdoor Event Center, sharing the stadium with the Everett AquaSox.
• 💰 The new stadium is currently estimated to cost around $120 MILLION.
• 👏 Plans call for approximately 5,000 seats.
• 📍 The venue would sit on a 12.5-acre site across from Angel of the Winds Arena in downtown Everett.
• 🚧 Construction could begin as early as next year.
• 📅 The stadium is currently targeting a spring 2028 opening.

If it happens, professional soccer would add another major tenant to a stadium Everett is hoping will become a year-round sports and entertainment destination.

Would you go to an Everett professional soccer game? 👇

🏡 Comment “MCM” to get all the details on this home.

This is a 1968 MCM tucked into Denny Park Heights in Kirkland, a pocket of mid-century homes set on wooded quarter-acre lots. It was built by Stewart and Potter, a builder whose homes regularly appeared in the Parade of Homes in the ‘50s and ‘60s. You can feel that pedigree from the moment you walk in.

The entry sets the tone. You step onto stone floors, and a central staircase wraps around an indoor planter, taking you either up or down. Overhead are warm vaulted wood ceilings and a second-floor catwalk, lit softly by a skylight and well-placed windows.

Below the catwalk, a huge dining room opens into a sunroom. Next to it is a great room with a fireplace and a shaded patio just outside, the spot where everyone will end up.

Upstairs, the living room steals the show. It has soaring vaulted ceilings, and sliders out to a wraparound deck that runs along two sides of the house.

It has original character and room to spread out.

Comment “MCM” for the details.

🚝 One of Seattle’s most iconic pieces of transportation is getting its biggest makeover in decades.

Construction is beginning on a $23 MILLION renovation of the Seattle Monorail’s Seattle Center station, more than 60 years after it was built for the 1962 World’s Fair.

Here’s what’s changing:
• ♿ A new accessible entrance off Thomas Street, plus upgraded ramps and platform surfaces.
• 💡 Improved lighting, signage and tactile wayfinding for riders with visual impairments.
• 🚪 Wider boarding doors and new automatic passenger gates.
• 🎟️ Reconfigured ticketing, queuing and boarding areas to better handle crowds after Kraken games and Climate Pledge Arena concerts.
• 🌧️ An extended roof will provide more protection from Seattle’s weather.
• 🏗️ Crews will restore aging steel and concrete, replace corroded guardrails and reinforce the platform.
• 💰 The entire $23 million project is being funded through federal and state grants.
• 📅 Construction is expected to wrap up in late 2027.

The 0.9-mile Monorail still carries around 2.3 million riders per year, connecting Seattle Center with Westlake downtown.

Is a $23 million renovation a worthwhile investment in this 64-year-old Seattle landmark? 👇

🌎 New York. London. Paris. Seattle.

A new global report has ranked Seattle the #4 city in the WORLD, placing it ahead of cities including San Francisco and Tokyo.

The 2026 Global Cities Index from Oxford Economics evaluated 1,000 cities worldwide across economics, human capital, quality of life, environment and governance.

Here are the details:
• 🏆 Seattle scored 92.8 out of 100, ranking 4th overall globally.
• 💰 Seattle ranked #4 in the world for economics, its strongest category.
• 📈 The metro produced an estimated $632 BILLION in GDP in 2025, or roughly $152,000 per person.
• 💻 The report highlights Seattle’s diverse economy, including major employers like Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, Costco, Starbucks and Nordstrom.
• 🌲 Seattle ranked 22nd globally for quality of life.
• 🌎 It ranked 28th for environment, helped by clean air, green space and relatively low carbon emissions.
• 🏛️ Governance was Seattle’s weakest category at 198th, though U.S. cities received the same score because the metric reflects national-level factors.

For all the criticism Seattle gets locally, it’s interesting to see how highly the region stacks up when compared with 1,000 cities around the world.

Does Seattle feel like the 4th-best city in the world to you? 👇

🌉 One of Snohomish County’s most important pieces of infrastructure is finally getting a replacement plan.

WSDOT is preparing to replace the aging Highway 2 trestle, the critical connection between Everett and communities across eastern Snohomish County.

Here are the details:
• ⚠️ WSDOT says the existing trestle has earthquake vulnerabilities and growing traffic problems.
• 🚗 The corridor experiences significant daily congestion, especially during peak commute times.
• 🚌 The current structure also has limited space for transit and bicycle infrastructure.
• 🏗️ WSDOT expects to reveal its preferred replacement design this October or November.
• 💰 The entire project is currently estimated to cost around $2 BILLION.
• 🤝 Funding could include federal, state, city and county money, with a potential public-private partnership also being explored.
• 🚧 Construction could begin as early as 2031, with the full project potentially taking up to a decade to complete.

For thousands of people commuting between Everett, Lake Stevens, Snohomish and communities farther east, this could be one of the region’s most consequential transportation projects in decades.

What’s the #1 improvement you’d want to see in a new Highway 2 trestle? 👇

🏢 One of Seattle’s oldest banks is planning to move its corporate headquarters across Lake Washington to Bellevue.

WaFd Incorporated says it expects to relocate its holding company headquarters from downtown Seattle within the next 18 months, with downtown Bellevue currently the likely destination.

Here are the details:
• 🌆 WaFd is targeting downtown Bellevue, although a specific office hasn’t been selected yet.
• 🏦 The move follows WaFd’s recently announced $3.9 billion reverse merger with EverBank, creating a need for additional office space.
• 🚗 CEO Brent Beardall pointed to cleanliness, safety and free parking as factors favoring Bellevue.
• 💰 He also cited the region’s tax and fiscal climate as part of the decision.
• 📍 WaFd says it intends to remain in Washington, rather than relocate its headquarters out of state.
• 📅 The move is expected to happen sometime within the next 18 months.

It’s another notable company choosing to expand its presence in Bellevue rather than downtown Seattle, continuing a trend that’s reshaping the region’s business landscape.
