We have a mixed relationship with Good Friday. In 2019 we found out on Good Friday that we lost our first pregnancy. Then 3 years later Good Friday was the day our son Ogden was born. Strangely enough, I think it’s a good day to have shared joy and grief because depending on how you view Jesus’ crucifixion it’s both. A moment of great tragedy and victory at the same time. Maybe you can relate: our house is often messy, it’s not irregular to have dishes in the sink, and a large percentage of the time the volume is … loud. We just added a 3rd into the mix (as visible by the bags under my eyes) so I’ve been on paternity leave and was thinking as I drove home the other night that even though it’s messy and chaotic, God is in every moment of it. If you’re in the thick of it, I don’t think this season is one to endure, it’s one to embrace. The days are sometimes long and the years are always short. Let’s lead and love our kids well. #parenting #christianparenting

A lot of people think they need to delight in God before they can spend time with Him. But what if delight isn’t the starting point?

Like any healthy relationship, you don’t just spend time with someone because you enjoy them, you often enjoy them more because you spend time with them.

I was at a coffee shop when I overheard two people at the table start to talk about life: hobbies, dating, philosophy, all of it. Almost none of it lining up with a biblical worldview. I couldn’t help but eavesdrop because I was intrigued, thinking “interesting that this is really how some people see life.” But what baffled me was at the end of the convo when they left with “so see you at church Sunday?”

It would be easy to become judgmental but I tried to first get introspective. If someone eavesdropped on every moment of my life, would it line up with the things I say I believe?

All of the fruit that we’ve seen is a result of God‘s grace and the faithfulness of an incredible team. God has brought us through this year and he’ll lead us through the next.
