Temporary lock-up in the middle of a country lane overtake livened up last night’s ride home. Layshaft bush gave up the ghost and took the casing and layshaft with it. Must be why proper Goldie boxes are needle roller.. by @bsa_dave

A couple of Velocette KTT motorcycles at the start of the 2025 VMCC Banbury Run.

The first bike is a 1929 KSS framed ex-sprint bike with a KTT engine, ridden by @bsa_dave.

The second bike is a 1929 KTT factory bike, once owned by Bertie Goodman - the MD of Velocette. This one is started up on a run; next to no other than Sammy Miller!

They’re still out there.. just got this December ‘ 53 AJS 350 trials bike, registered AJS776 . Ex-works, was used by Hugh Viney, Bob Manns and Dave Curtis . Viney rode the ‘55 Scottish 6 Days on it, and I’ve found a clip of him riding it in the ‘55 Victory Cup Trial ( on the same ‘Scrambling in the ‘50s’ vhs/dvd that I bought my dad 35 yrs ago).
A guy called Alan Sutton bought the bike from AJS in ‘56, and I bought it off his non-motorcycling son. Hasn’t run in 50yrs but it spins over fine and I reckon would fire up with a rebuilt magneto. Still has works ‘Elektron’ magnesium gearbox casing ( fizzes when tested with vinegar ), alloy tank, and signs of scruitineering paint. Various spares including OG ‘50’s paddock stand . by @bsa_dave

Setting up the cam drive on the Velo. I’ve taken out the KTT motor and put the original back in. It’s ported more drastically and goes better anyway. KTT lump for sale if anyone needs one by @bsa_dave

First off the line at today’s Lucas Classic event at the ‘world’s oldest continuously used motorsport venue’, Shelsley Walsh hill climb . It’s damn steep , and tall gearing combined with vintage horsepower meant I was never going to break any records, but been coming here since I was a kid so scratched a long held itch taken in Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb by @bsa_dave
