Black students… we need to talk (again). @nyustudentgov Senator-at-Large for Black Students and Students of Color, Zoe’ Bell, is happy to announce the second annual Black Town Hall on Thursday, October 22nd, from 7:00–9:00 PM.

This event is in collaboration with @bsu.nyu @nyu_csa @asu_nyu @nyusds @bsb.nyu as well as invited organizations!

This space will be used to engage in dialogue, connect NYU’s Black community, work to better the Black student experience, and create lasting impact for Black students on campus and to come.

We know all too well how heavy the weight of the world is on black students’ shoulders and this is the perfect place to dish it out together.

Location: GCASL, RM 369 (RSVP for Hybrid/Virtual) by @bsb.nyu

Black enrollment for the Class of 2029 was ONLY 3.4%! This represents a further 20% decline in Black enrollment from Class of 2028, which was just 4.2% of the whole class!

NYU has failed its Black student body, we are demanding that administration work to increase Black enrollment!

On Friday, students rallied at Garibaldi Plaza to launch our campaign to demand an increase to Black student enrollment at NYU! We heard from various speakers and organizations who spoke to the experience of being Black on campus and the failure of the administration to support the Black student body.

We are demanding:
- Increase Black enrollment to 20% within the next 5 years to match NYC demographics
- Publicly release demographic enrollment data so that students can judge the progress themselves
- Create a Black space on campus within a year
- Hire more Black faculty and release the demographics of faculty on campus

SDS and allied organizations will continue to fight for these demands, this rally was just the beginning. If you support these demands sign the petition at the link in our bio but more importantly come out to our weekly meetings every Thursday 6pm at 4th floor of the Gallatin building where we will be organizing behind this campaign.

Today, we are launching our new campaign to increase Black enrollment at NYU! Our demands are as follows:

1) Increase Black enrollment to 20% within 5 years
2) Release detailed admissions and enrollment demographic data
3) Create a designated space for Black students within a year
4) Increase the number of Black professors and release demographic data on Black faculty

If you want to join us in this struggle, join SDS at our meetings every Thursday at 6pm in Gallatin’s 4th floor lounge. If your organization is interested in endorsing, sign the petition in our bio.
