Fantastisk og intens begyndelse på året i det spanske. Har instrueret min første mini-serie på seks en halv vilde uger med et drømmecast og de bedste mennesker bag kameraet. Har nydt San Sebastian i fulde drag, strand, bedste mad! Elsker at være tilbage som TV serie instruktør efter flere år med spillefilmene. ✍️ Il film si apre con immagini del Kosovo devastato dalla guerra, nel 1999, mentre un capitolo oscuro della storia dell’Europa moderna volge al termine. In un testamento cinematografico co-creato nell’arco di 15 anni, i bambini che parlano direttamente al pubblico si trasformano in adulti davanti ai nostri occhi. Eppure il bambino continua a fissarci da dietro lo sguardo dell’adulto, mentre la lotta per sopravvivere diventa una lotta per avere un futuro. Grazie a una stretta collaborazione artistica con il cast principale –Xhevahire, Gëzim, Shpresim e Besnik– il film si muove tra crudo realismo, rappresentazione scenica e una meditazione esistenziale sulle conseguenze a lungo termine della guerra.

🎙️Come scrive Brigitte Stærmose: “Pensiamo alla guerra come a qualcosa che accade e poi finisce. Ma la guerra continua a vivere nelle persone che l’hanno vissuta. In Afterwar voglio che anche il pubblico si confronti con questa realtà. Vedo il film come una forma di testimonianza. Una dichiarazione sulla vita interiore del cast, più che una storia vera su di loro. Condividono tutti essenzialmente la stessa storia: la storia collettiva di un’intera generazione che vive nel limbo del ‘dopoguerra’ “.

🇮🇹 Incontra i registi dell’Euro Balkan Film Festival!

🧍🏼‍♀️Birgitte Stærmose è una sceneggiatrice e regista di fama internazionale, autrice di cortometraggi e lungometraggi pluripremiati. Il suo cortometraggio Out of Love (2009) è il precursore di Afterwar. È stato presentato in anteprima ed è stato premiato alla Berlinale 2009. Negli ultimi cinque anni Stærmose ha lavorato a livello internazionale come regista principale in serie drammatiche per HBO, Starz e Netflix. Il suo lungometraggio più recente, Camino, è stato presentato in anteprima come Closing Film al Geneva International Film Festival (2023) ed è uscito in alcune sale selezionate e sulla piattaforma Viaplay nell’aprile 2023.

🪖 All’Euro Balkan Film Festival 2025 sarà in concorso con il suo film Afterwar, un progetto che dura da 15 anni.

🇬🇧 Meet the filmmakers of the Euro Balkan Film Festival!

🧍🏼‍♀️Birgitte Stærmose is an internationally acclaimed writer-director of award-winning shorts and feature films. Her short Out of Love (2009) is the precursor to Afterwar. It premiered and was awarded at Berlinale 2009. For the past five years Stærmose has worked internationally as lead director on drama series for HBO, Starz and Netflix. Her most recent feature, Camino, premiered as the Closing Film at Geneva International Film Festival (2023) and was released in selected theatres and on the Viaplay platform April 2023.

🪖At the Euro Balkan Film Festival 2025, she will be competing with her film Afterwar, a passion project that has spanned 15 years.

📽 Este film de @bstaermose es un testamento cinematográfico de 15 años de desarrollo, una reflexión sobre los efectos de la guerra a largo plazo. que intercala realismo crudo y actuación.

Cuatro infancias de Pristina, la capital de Kosovo, se convierten en personas adultas ante nuestros ojos, en un país en el que todavía se sienten los efectos de la guerra de fines de 1990.
