What an honor and privilege to experience an intimate workshop with @losgaiterosdesanjacintoficial and @carmelotorresysucumbia by @btebehindtheescena

A beautiful night celebrating Austrian National Day at San Francisco’s historic War Memorial and Performing Arts Center. 🇦🇹✨ A photo with Ursula Rojas Weiser, Consul for Economic and Political Affairs at the Mexican Consulate in San Francisco, and Isabella Tomás, Consul of Austria in San Francisco.

The evening also brought together members of the international diplomatic community, including Juan Miguel Miranda Brambilla, Consul General of Peru in San Francisco.

My daughter says my life is very random. The more I think about it, the more I realize she might be right. 😂 One minute I’m covering music, the next I’m celebrating Austrian National Day with diplomats, and two weeks from now I’ll be at the Latin Grammys. The plot really does change quickly around here. by @btebehindtheescena

What happens when a music video becomes something bigger than the music?

For Tamara Flores, filming *Chingona* in her mother’s hometown of Acatlán, Veracruz, became a community effort. Her abuela, tías, primas, and neighbors all stepped in, turning a small production into a collective act of love, pride, and participation.

Now, the video is nominated for a Latin Grammy. But the story behind it is just as powerful as what you see on screen.

🎙️ I spoke with Tamara about the people, the place, and the beautiful things that happen when a community comes together. by @btebehindtheescena

A LATIN GRAMMY NOMINATION. A HOMETOWN. A WHOLE COMMUNITY.

Tamara Flores's *Chingona* is nominated for a Latin GRAMMY, and the story behind the video is just as powerful as the recognition.

Filmed in her mother's hometown of Acatlán, Veracruz, the production brought together her abuela, tías, primas, and neighbors, turning a music video into a collective act of love, pride, and belonging.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful part of making art is the people who become part of it.

🎙️ I spoke with Tamara about the story behind *Chingona* on Behind the Escena.

How do you reinvent a Selena classic without losing what made it iconic? Jahny Wallz reimagines “Como La Flor” for the second release of his ongoing *My Musical Story project, blending spoken word, verses in conversation, and new instrumentation while honoring Selena’s legacy.

But representation goes beyond who gets heard. Jahny also adapts music into written arrangements so school jazz bands can play it. Whose music gets played, whose stories get taught, and who gets to see themselves in the room? That matters.
Featuring El Pecado de Juana, Mariposas del Alma, and San José poet Yosimar Reyes. A celebration of the talent and collaboration thriving in our local Latino arts scene. ❤️‍🔥

15 METERS OF TRENZA. ZERO TOLERANCE. 🔥

Mexican-Austrian Tamara Flores’s Latin GRAMMY-nominated video Chingona, the braid is more than a hairstyle. It’s a symbol of power, resistance, and a little humor.

She starts with a 15-meter-long trenza, eventually cut down to 10 meters. And when she uses it to capture a man like a vaquero with a lasso? Iconic. 😂

Because Chingona knows how to make a statement without taking itself too seriously.

🎙️ The story behind the video, straight from my conversation with Tamara on Behind the Escena. by @btebehindtheescena

Shh.
Listen.
It’s about the music.

Cistain pictures himself and music walking into a cave. What music can’t say, he speaks. What he can’t play, music does. The mask keeps the focus there, and keeps a boundary of privacy.

At first he was scared to wear it everywhere. Once he walked in fully as Cistain the artist, “things just started to fall in place. Fast.”

And no, he’s not hiding anything. “I look amazing under the mask, y’all.”

One note: the transcript has “I am amused for music,” which is almost certainly “I am a muse for music.” I left it out since I can’t confirm it, but it’s a great line if you can check it against the recording around the 19:07 mark. by @btebehindtheescena

I’ve Had Better Days got it off his chest. Cistain shares what comes next is the relearning.

Cistain’s next album, I Am Merely Just a Man..., is about life after the fall. “I have to relearn everything, recalibrate, relearn how to feel as this man, how to love as this man.”

His advice to anyone in their own evolution: be ready. It’s yours.

#kpoo by @btebehindtheescena

He prayed for a sign.
He got off stage.
It was on a shirt.

After his headlining show at Omni House in LA, Cistain met Finney, president of Rapper’s Digest. On his shirt: a ski mask emblem. Cistain performs masked. It’s his signature.

“It just fell, and we became a family.”

I had the chance to sit down with Andrea Béjar for an interview. Her voice, her style, and the direction she’s carving out for herself have me curious about what comes next. Keep her name close. I have a feeling this is just the beginning.
